Meet the Residents: Raffaele Muraca 🎨

Raffaele (@sillyme_arts) is an Italian street artist and prop maker currently based in Cork, Ireland. He is known for his colorful portraits of children, which aim to reconnect people with their inner child and evoke dreamlike worlds.

During his @experimentresidency in Da Nang this month, he led a spray paint workshop for @spacegardendanang, where he taught participants the basics of spray painting. Together, they created a mural of a fire horse. He also painted a 2.5 x 2.5 meter mural for Not Pop, inspired by local children and Vietnamese traditions and sayings about childhood.

During the residency, Raffaele also joined a street art jam with other traveling artists. There, he created an experimental piece inspired by a childhood game: colorful straight lines that follow the shape of a hand, creating a three-dimensional effect. This work is part of an idea he had been developing for a long time, and it was created in Da Nang with the support of @nam___jam.

🐍 As the Year of the Snake is coming to a close, we’re taking a moment to look back at last year’s Snake Exhibition, celebrating the Year of the Wood Snake — what a beautiful and vibrant exhibition, showcasing so many mediums and artistic takes on the theme!

This year, we’re doing it again.

FIRE HORSE is coming.
A completely different energy. Faster, bolder, more direct. Consider this the starting point — the seed being planted. Our open call will be released soon. Stay tuned.

We’re also excited to share that we’ve officially partnered with @experimentresidency, whose final residency exhibition will be a part of FIRE HORSE, hosted at Space Garden. While the exhibition includes works developed through the residency, FIRE HORSE will also be open to artists beyond the residency.

ANNOUNCING OUR THIRD OPEN CALL: DA NANG 🇻🇳

Join @experimentresidency for four weeks this February on the sunny coast of Vietnam, living and creating alongside a small cohort of artists. This is our third EXPERIMENT residency, and the second iteration of our Da Nang program.

Over the course of the month, residents will immerse themselves in Da Nang while developing a creative project, to be presented in a public exhibition hosted by Space Garden at the end of the residency. In the past, residents have painted murals, created dance choreographies, launched storytelling projects, and more. Some residents work on multiple projects during their time with us. Our only expectation is that at least one project is completed and ready for the Space Garden exhibition.

Community engagement is central to EXPERIMENT’s ethos. Resident projects often respond to the local context in some way – whether it’s a mural for a local NGO, a puppet show exploring the history of a neighborhood business, or a photography series documenting local street fashion. Many residents also choose to host workshops or public gatherings, sharing skills and knowledge with the wider community.

The program is open to Vietnamese and international artists alike. The primary working language of the residency is English. Vietnamese-speaking residents are especially encouraged to apply. Translation support may be informal and peer-based.

You will be led by residency stewards @ex.architect, @jemmajet, and @korakorakora_. We’ve officially partnered with @spacegardendanang to host the final residency exhibition.

Join @experimentresidency for four weeks this February on the sunny coast of Vietnam, living and creating alongside a small cohort of artists. This is our third EXPERIMENT residency, and the second iteration of our Da Nang program.

Over the course of the month, residents will immerse themselves in Da Nang while developing a creative project, to be presented in a public exhibition hosted by Space Garden at the end of the residency. In the past, residents have painted murals, created dance choreographies, launched storytelling projects, and more. Some residents work on multiple projects during their time with us. Our only expectation is that at least one project is completed and ready for the Space Garden exhibition.

Community engagement is central to EXPERIMENT’s ethos. Resident projects often respond to the local context in some way – whether it’s a mural for a local NGO, a puppet show exploring the history of a neighborhood business, or a photography series documenting local street fashion. Many residents also choose to host workshops or public gatherings, sharing skills and knowledge with the wider community.

The program is open to Vietnamese and international artists alike. The primary working language of the residency is English. Vietnamese-speaking residents are especially encouraged to apply. Translation support may be informal and peer-based.

You will be led by residency stewards @ex.architect, @jemmajet, and @korakorakora_. We’ve officially partnered with @spacegardendanang to host the final residency exhibition.
