We were privileged to have Adewale Adenle, a distinguished political cartoonist and assistant professor @georgiastateuniversity, as our guest speaker tonight. Currently showcasing his incredible art at @eyedrum, he shared with us his process and views on art as a medium for political commentary and the impact of Western culture. What resonated with me was his emphasis on art not just for aesthetics but as a means to challenge power structures. We have 2 workshops coming up following into a performance, let me know if you are interested;)

Musicians and Movers is a community-based performance platform that brings together musicians and dancers for collaborative, live performances. Our programming focuses on creating space for interdisciplinary exchange, where artists work together in real time to explore and refine relationships between movement and sound.
Practicing deep listening.

This series of workshops, held in a master class setting that integrates music theory concepts, butoh poem imagery, somatic practices, and improvisational exercises to examine the intersections of improvisation and composition between sound and movement, both trained and untrained musicians and movers welcome, guided by Movement Artist, Luciana Arias, founder of Musicians and Movers.
This workshop is cumulative (though participants are welcome to also just drop-in).
There will be a final performance that incorporates participants as well as a curated ensemble.

As a special event, tonight at 8PM, we’ve got an artist talk from legendary Atlanta artist Michael Mauldin - @mauldin_art .His first solo exhibition Mark Maker is currently on display, and this is your chance to hear directly from him—insight, stories, process, all of it.

After the talk, stay and hang outwith us in our weekly artist group and draw alongside one of Atlanta’s finest. Whether you’re there to sharpen your skills, relax with the community, or just get inspired, this is the place. If you are inclined, add your marks to our art scroll.
$5 at the door, or bring food/drinks to share with the group.
