I spent the past few months brainstorming, curating, and executing The @masstimberconference‘s first ever Mass Timber Gallery. The initial idea was to host a small photography show off site—this snowballed into a gorgeous custom gallery wall build out by @torzosurfaces featuring work from four distinguished photographers in the mass timber sector: Marcus Kauffman, @emaphotographi, @laraswimmer, and myself (Nic Kielbasa). The Art Of Mass Timber will be on the IMTC show floor for the duration of the conference—opening this afternoon. Special thanks to everyone who made this happen. I feel privileged to show my work next to these photographers.

The Columbia River Maritime Museum’s newest addition, Mariners Hall, topped out in late June. I documented the project four separate times, from the first curved glulam beam to the roof being set in place. It’s hard to put into words how mesmerizing this project is. From my time spent shooting near the pedestrian walkway on the waterfront and interacting with countless locals and tourists visiting the main branch of the museum, it begs the question, “why aren’t more buildings built like this?” I’m excited to see the project when it’s completed. It makes me proud to live in Oregon, and I’m sure Astorians feel the same way.
