Heavy legs build mental toughness.
Thursday double-day protocol in full effect. After a high-intensity, high-torque strength session on the indoor bike trainer this morning, the legs were already holding a deep baseline of fatigue before I even laced up my running shoes tonight.
Tonight’s prescription from @humango_ai: A progressive warm-up, 5x 30sec high-cadence builds to wake up the nervous system, and the main course—2x 2km intervals targeted precisely between 4:33 and 5:42/km.
When you’re training for a half iron distance and a half marathon, you don’t get to run on fresh legs very often. The magic doesn’t happen when you feel perfect; it happens when you show up fatigued, respect the structure, control the heart rate, and execute the pacing perfectly anyway.
The data is logged. The work is done.
Finished with heavy legs and a massive smile.

The challenge is simple. Move 3.21 miles a day for one month however you want. Run, walk, bike, swim, skip, hike. It all counts.
The number 3.21 represents the three copies of the 21st chromosome carried by individuals with Down syndrome, and this challenge is about much more than miles. It’s about showing up, creating visibility, and building a culture of inclusion through movement and community.
The challenge starts TODAY and runs through June 12.

Not every race can be great and @gpbern didn't take it easy on me 🫠
A troubled winter meant my form isn't where I wanted it to be and after not drinking enough all day I suffered badly in the heat 🥵
In the end I finished the 10 mile race (with 193m elevation) in 01h 11min 13sec - 1min 13sec past my goal 🫤

Like I said this morning—you can’t cheat effort. Tonight, the data proved it.
The @humango_ai Recalibration Test is a brutal reality check. It’s a 3-stage assessment designed to find your absolute maximal sustainable effort across three specific intervals:
• 1 Minute: Pure explosive power.
• 3 Minutes: Finding the anaerobic limit.
• 12 Minutes: The mental and physical “Truth”.
After finishing the Ironman in 2025, I’ve learned that “winging it” doesn’t work for endurance sports. To reach the start lines of the Half Marathon at @maratonulinternationalsibiu and the 70.3 at @timisoaratriathlon in peak form, I need my training zones to be precise.
These 12 minutes were the hardest of the week, but they are the most valuable. The data is in, the thresholds are updated, and we’re ready for the next block.

- 12 days to Helsinki marathon @helsinkicityrun !!
I'm so stoked to take part in this race. It's gonna be my first race abroad and my first time in Helsinki so this exciting!
Last Sunday was my last long run of this marathon block. It was pretty hot and since it was on rolling terrain, almost all sun exposed, I felt a bit tired towards the end. But it's gonna be definitely cooler in Helsinki so that's good. I also ran without headphones and I kinda like it.
I consumed 4 @cetilarsport gels and the last one was a caffeinated one. Each of them has ~40gr of carbs in it. I think I'm gonna bring 5 gels with me plus that same flask with water + iso.
@humango_ai it's almost time!! The energy is there, the training went well overall, of course with the usual ups and downs of training for a long race but that's part of the game. I'm feeling ready for this marathon. I know that the mental game is my Achilles' heel: keep my mind focused on executing the plan and not letting my concentration be disrupted by intrusive thoughts it's my priority. It will be a challenge. But a good one to continue making progress.
