Indeks
A curatorial platform to cultivate dialogues and knowledge exchange.
Based in Bandung, Indonesia.
Opens: Wed-Sun, 1:00-8:00pm

A (not-so) small adjustment in how our spaces work.
The library now sits closer to what’s happening in the Project Space, allowing reading and exhibitions to exist side by side.
Meanwhile, our Pangarang space continues its role through the Learning Atlas program, supporting learning and community-based activities.
Drop by when you have the time! Our ongoing show, Langgam, is running until 22 February. We are open Wed-Sun, 13:00-20:00.

1 May 2026 • Soft Structures: The Artist-Parent Condition
Last Friday, we had the FGD with fellow parent-artists, complemented well with insights from children who chose the path of art making. Before starting the discussion, we watched Kidlat Tahimik’s Orbit 50: Letters to my Three Sons as a springboard on how creative process change for people who happen to have kids. (ive seen this before many years ago yet when I watched it again this time, I sobbed like a child!) “I am proud to say that I am a father first, and then a filmmaker. In that order” says Tatay Kidlat towards the end of the film, reflecting on why it took him years to finish a film.
What shifts when an artist becomes a parent isn’t just the schedule, it’s the entire interior landscape from which a work emerges. Art demands time, deep focus, and a genuine piece of yourself in everything you make. So does a child. And unlike a deadline, a child does not wait for the right moment (everybody saw it at UNPAR yesterday haha sorry po!)
Its no longer you and your art but a piece of your own flesh looking at you everyday searching for answers, demanding for your attention, and at the end of the day, nothing else really matters. The child comes first and you have to make way for it, and whether we admit it or not, the general structure isn’t ready to give you that freedom yet.
But it is exactly what this residency provided me, it welcomed my entire family with all that it entails, the tired child, the confused child, the stranger danger child yet here we are at the end of my residency with so much new things to digest, and to realize. I hope @indeks_id continue this, and hopefully more institutions will follow suit.
That this parenting struggle isn’t isolated in the parent-artist archetype, but in every labor stripped of safety nets. The parents who live with the same quiet dread, that what has been saved is one serious illness away from disappearing. Financial precarity is not the exclusive condition of the artist. It is the condition of many people who have chosen, or been placed in, work that the formal economy does not fully protect. And that my friends, is the bigger picture.

“Soft Structures: The Artist-Parent Condition” considers how artistic practice is shaped by the conditions of care, attending to parenting as a form of labor that reorganizes time, attention, and modes of production. Rather than positioning parenthood in opposition to artistic work, the session approaches it as a generative framework through which new rhythms, constraints, and forms of knowledge emerge. Accompanied by a screening of Kidlat Tahimik’s Orbit 50: Letters to My Three Sons (1992), the discussion situates artist-parenthood within broader questions of visibility, support, and the infrastructures that sustain both life and practice. This session will be facilitated by Bea Belen-Ferrer.

Morning Moon
Pameran Tunggal oleh Alrezky Caesaria
Kurator: Maradita Sutantio
6 - 12 April 2026
Rabu—Minggu
13.00–20.00 WIB
Indeks Project Space,
Jl. Pangampaan No. 37, Bandung
—

𝕄𝕠𝕣𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕄𝕠𝕠𝕟
Solo Exhibition by Alrezky Caesaria
Curated by: Maradita Sutantio
Opening: 6 Mar 2026, at 17:00 WIB | Iftar will be provided
Indeks Project Space, Jl. Pangampaan No. 37, Bandung
Open to the public and no RSVP needed
—
Beginning with the pixel as the smallest unit of digital language, Alrezky Caesaria expands her long-standing exploration of the boundary between digital and physical space into a lived experience. Through this exhibition, she introduces 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘰—a fictional studio operating as a “real” business within an imagined world—where pixels are produced for actual clients, yet the structure that generates them exists only in narrative.
Positioning digital labor as artistic medium, the exhibition reflects on value, fiction, and production within contemporary economies. Can an imagined system generate real meaning? Morning Moon unfolds as both inquiry and invitation: a space where play and material presence converge.
——
Exhibition runs until 12 Apr 2026, opens Wed—Sun, 13:00–20:00 WIB

Bandung Kyodo Karuta
Workshop by Kona Eguchi
Sunday, 1 March 2026 — 16:00 WIB
at Indeks Project Space, Jl. Pangampaan no. 37, Bandung
—
(Karuta is a traditional Japanese card game that relies on memory, speed, and responsiveness to spoken text. One voice reads a fragment, while players search for the corresponding card. The text becomes something active—mobile, contested, and never final.
In this workshop, karuta is used as a device to play with parikan / sisindiran, traditional Indonesian poetic forms structured in two layers: the first two lines evoke a landscape or situation, while the last two lines reveal the core meaning. These verses are translated into cards, then shuffled, reread, and rearranged. The approach resonates with the oral narrative tradition of Wayang Beber, where text is animated through voice, rhythm, and performative delivery. Narrative moves across visual form, sound, and play.
The workshop invites participants to recompose their urban experiences into poetry, and to reconstruct them as “playable narratives.” The city is not positioned as an object of observation, but as something that can be sung again. Personal fragments become part of a living archive—constantly shifting through collective reading and gameplay.

Kona Eguchi (1998)is a Japan-based artist working across text, drawing, game structures, and performance. She begins from spontaneous gestures and impulses, then excavates their context through reflection and dialogue. Her works do not propose fixed messages; instead, they open interpretive space that grows through the body, material encounters, and shared experience.

𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒕 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 06 - 𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑹𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅: 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒂, 𝑫𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒓𝒕 𝑬𝒄𝒐𝒔𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎 explores how media practices, public communication, and documentation operate within the art ecosystem today. The discussion will touch on the transformation of media platforms from print to digital, working structures within art media practices, documenting and recording as part of journalism, as well as how audience engagement and platform algorithms shape the circulation and understanding of artistic practices.

Indistinct Chatter is a case-study-based discussion series initiated by Indeks in 2020 in response to ongoing shifts within the art ecosystem. The program opens space for critical conversations around contemporary artistic practices through reflection, exchange, and shared experiences among artists, writers, curators, and wider audiences.

On 29 January, Indeks had the pleasure of hosting an intimate dinner with the guests of Primer SEA in collaboration with @nationalgallerysingapore. The evening served as an opportunity to introduce the practices of artists and curators working within our context to a wider, international audience, with guests joining us from across different regions and backgrounds.
Through shared time and conversation, the gathering created a space for meaningful encounters—where practices and ways of working could be introduced and shared beyond formal presentations.
Our sincere thanks to Lucas Huang (@lucaskaiquan), Ashley Yuen, and Annisa Rahadi (@rahadiich) for organizing the visit; to our guest artists and curators—Immartyas Ghinaa (@yagitu), Aliansyah Caniago (@aliansyahcaniago), M. Akbar (@mmmakbar), Egga Jaya (@eggajaya), Maharani Mancanagara (@mancanagara), Nurrahmat Widyasena (@mas_ito), Chiara Ghiardi (@giardi.chiara), Jeong-ok Jeon (@kakajeon), Karina Roosvita (@karinaroosvita), Clarissa Tifanny (@clarissatifanny_), Raisa Kamila (@raikala_), and Riyadhus Shalihin (@shalihinriyad); and to the Primer SEA guests—Aleesa Pitchamarn Alexander (@aleesapalexander), Carol Yinghua Lu (@carolyinghualu), Daria de Beauvais, Hit Man Gurung (@hitmaangurung), Inga Lāce (@lace.inga), Lucas Morin (@luuuluuuluu), Mario D’Souza (@marioashleydsouza), Nikita Yingqian Cai, Sharmini Pereira, Sheelasha Rajbhandari (@sheelasha_rajbhandari), Tessa Giblin (@tessa.giblin), and Xue Tan (@xue77)—for taking the time to visit and engage with our space.
This gathering wouldn’t be possible without the greatest support and care from Salsa Devi Anggraini, Clarissa Tifanny, Anggita Rizqi, Hasna Nurul Fajri, Maharani Mancanagara, Grace Anata, and Ibu Warsini

Our current exhibition, 𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒈𝒂𝒎, presents a selection of artists’ explorations and sustained expansions within their work. Rather than emphasizing singular works or outcomes, the exhibition traces how artistic practices evolve through continuous inquiry, repetition, and transformation—how ideas are returned to, stretched, resisted, and expanded over time. By presenting works shaped through extended processes, 𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒈𝒂𝒎 highlights the dedication, consistencies, and shifts that define each artist’s approach, positioning their artworks as a living and evolving system of thought and expression.
𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒈𝒂𝒎 features works by: Aliansyah Caniago, Egga Jaya, Immartyas Ghinaa, M. Akbar, Maharani Mancanagara, Nurrachmat Widyasena, Riyadhus Shalihin

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
