EXIT presents a night featuring two of Glasgow’s most exciting projects, Somewhere Press and Susannah Stark, joined by none other than Belgium’s Nosedrip, forming a Glasgow – Somewhere Press – Stroom thread. Exploring expanded club sonics, dancefloor oddities, and an extended DJ set from Nosedrip, pulling selections that lean toward EXIT goth-club atmospheres and no doubt a train of jacking Belgian new beat and much more into the early hours.

Susannah Stark and Band are an experimental ensemble from Glasgow, playing an extended folk session in mystical locations around the Govan stones, river Clyde & underground waters. Their sound is formed out of sparse sonic gestures and vibrating intensities, weaving among multi-lingual songwriting in both Scottish Gaelic and English, drawing from pop, jazz, experimental, folk & kraut rock influences to create a tactile expression of place, faith and being that can also be experienced as a ritualistic channelling of unseen and unheard forces in everyday life.

Nosedrip ingeniously folds the essence of his cult label Stroom into all of this into his sets, pulling people into energizing genre-unifying flashes that most DJs wouldn’t dare touch. But there’s also another side – the Nosedrip that dives headfirst into techno, house, breaks, and the endless zones in between. He can be your go-to wave pop selector, while at the same time jacking new beat the Belgian way.

Somewhere Press is a Glasgow record label run by Lizzie Urquhart and Tim Dalzell. Their catalogue centres leftfield electronics, dream pop and dark ambient, held in the echo and residue of voice, field recording and drone. There’s pop, folk and even jazz in there somewhere, but all those elements are filtered through the label’s wide spread of influences. Their DJ sets take on a hypnotic sound, intertiwining the dark, emotional and psychedelic into a meandering narrative.

so happy to share a new collaborative mix with natalia for the beloved @candleobject series, collaged, reassembled and pieced back together over the last months

during a trip last year, we bonded over our shared love for a particular mode of lo-fi indie folk, the type of thing made in a bedroom and casually recorded in a live take, that somehow captures a floaty feeling, drifting beyond the bounds of the recorded material 

the mix is a record of that search - strange, elusive but heartwarming songwriting. there's a particular fragility to it all, like the last note from a wind-up music box - something to wrap yourself up inside for the icy cold of winter's end

On Thursday we share a very special project that we’ve been building over the last two years. The work is rooted in ritual, voice, and myth. While it draws on Scottish folklore, at its core it’s about myth-building through a predominantly FLINTA perspective - as is always the case with SP.

What may not be immediately obvious is Lizzie’s presence - held in the three figures that appear in the artwork.

During the loss of her beloved mother, Lorna, at the end of last year, Lizzie found moments of refuge in making images. Many of these photographs were taken quietly - in the hospital, her room, or the garden of the family home - during a period of caregiving. With little access to materials, she placed herself in the frame.

I'm immensely proud of Lizzie, her strength is beyond inspiring. Lorna was always her biggest supporter, and it feels clear that her courage and generosity of spirit live on through Lizzie.

The figure in these photographs carries a quiet, luminous power. Her presence, alongside the music, deepens the creation of new myth.

𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘁 is the solo project of musician and performance artist Lois Daniels — the mind behind ‘The Enga Project’ and one half of the newly formed freak-folk duo ‘vaseline’. combining ambient textures, avant-garde experimentation, and wordless vocal fragments, her work draws the listener into a world that is at once deeply intimate and subtly uncanny.

𝘁𝗶𝗯𝘀𝗹𝗰 made waves through her gorgeous shimmering, ambient glitch for sferic. in her recently self-released work, she builds on these early abstractions of ambient, warping sensitive guitar ballads of emotronica around her spine-tingling vocals

𝘇𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗲 conceives emo dub in the sensual, dusky atmospheres of his work for warm winters, sferic and mondoj. flickering pop melodies break through gauze, and asmr-inducing vocals are whispered in close-mic intimacy, all evoking a blissful and hazy late-night scene; a gentle mist floating above the water over ripples of moonlight

Between sets, I’ll be djing with the most incredible dj and all-round angel 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗳𝗼𝗮𝗺 ❣️

Recorded in may during endless glasgow sunshine, tracing languid murmurs of slow days in the sun. Songs for guitar breaking through sounds of buzzing insects in grassy meadows and steady warm tape fuzz. Hazy slowcore and ambi folk moving to heady and almost overripe sweetness of 00’s indietronica.

There’s a soft joy to all of this music, contentment and letting go in a moment of bliss.
