We’re thrilled to finally share images of ‘SIDELINED: A Space to Rethink Togetherness’ – the Dutch contribution to the 19th Architecture Biennale in Venice, curated by @amandapinatih. We were asked to design a queered sports bar that moves beyond binaries – not us vs. them, ally vs. opponent – but a space for cooperation and playful subversion🥎
Inspired by @gabriel_fontana__’s inclusive games, which propose new ways of relating, the scenography supports his work and the videos and soundscape by @missalicewong and @luca.soudant_adie, while also standing as an installation in its own right🥎
Gerrit Rietveld’s square pavilion is reshaped into a space where sport’s strength lies in softer values. A hexagonal structure, drawn from one of Fontana’s games (inspired by Asger Jorn’s three-sided football), symbolizes harmony, equality, and connection. The metal structure echoes football field sideboards – where parents lean to cheer – but the hardboards are replaced with soft furnishings – with so-called cafe curtains🥎
At the center stands a column with six screens showing Fontana’s games and nine soft reflective trophies for champions like the joyful disruptor and alliest ally🥎
Bringing a wave of colour to the Biennale, the palette draws from the non-binary pride flag: black and white infused with fresh yellow, and purple. The slogan ‘you’ll never play alone’ reclaims football’s famous chant – originally from a Rodgers & Hammerstein musical🥎
A bent, soft foosball table can be played from one side only: no teams, no fixed direction, just plenty of balls and joyful chaos. SIDELINED welcomes all bodies: barstools and counters vary in height and size. The foosball table is wheelchair-accessible, with safe, telescopic rods and diverse, non-gendered figurines. Jerseys from Anonymous Allyship – filmed at Venice’s Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo – hang on the sides🥎
The graphic design, using @jacob.j.wise ’s Skrappa Wide, softens traditional sports typography while projecting power🥎

The word is out!
I had the honor of designing a commemorative euro coin celebrating 25 years of marriage equality in the Netherlands. 🌈
The coin is commissioned by @denederlandschebank and produced by @royaldutchmint. While I’ve designed coins before, this is the first time my design has been selected for production!
On the 16th of April, we celebrated the occasion at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam with a festive first strike ceremony and beautiful speeches by Boris Diettrich, Job Cohen, representatives of the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands and mint master Bert van Ravenswaaij.
@rik_van_de_westelaken was given the honor of striking the very first coin.
The design is based on a quote by Job Cohen when he announced the new law in 2001: “We have… come to the realization that an important bond like marriage must be open to everyone.” The word “iedereen” (everyone) therefore takes center stage in the coin design. It is placed in a rainbow and encircled by the classic symbol of 2 intertwined rings to further emphasize it.
The same circular elements appear on the obverse, which features a portrait of King Willem-Alexander.
The coins are now available via the Royal Dutch Mint website (I can DM you a link!), with several versions to choose from, including a special color edition (which I will show soon!)
UNC Quality €5 coin (750 pieces)
BU Quility €5 coin (10.000 pieces)
Silver Prooflike (with color!) €5 coin (3500 pieces)
Gold Proof €10 coin (40.000 pieces)
Many thanks to Rutherford Craze (@mass.driver ) who allowed me to use his beautiful MD Nichrome Typeface and to @seb_agresti who worked with me on the portret of King Willem-Alexander!

A serious portrait for a slightly grown-up life update. This one actually feels like a full circle.
Next week I’ll start a (temporary) position as 🧑🏻🏫Professor at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe in Germany.
I’ll be teaching across product design and communication design, a space in between that feels very natural to me.
Before art school, I worked fulltime as an 🤓 optician, also designing and buying glasses. Now I finally get to bring that knowledge into my teaching practice.
I’ll be running two seminars:
– MORF FROM FORM FROM MORF: an associative chain of making, where forms continuously morph into new ones
– FRAMING FACES & GAZES: about glasses, identity, and how design shapes the way we see and are seen
I am very excited to be back, and to finally bring all these worlds together!

I am looking forward to starting with new exciting projects in 2026!

Last week, I finally did the thing I’ve been avoiding since 2019.
I gave a talk at @usbynightfest in Antwerp.
👨🏻🏫
@rizon_parein asked me each time since then, and each time I politely declined. I don’t like being on stage. I don’t like big crowds. Public speaking makes me feel like I might pass out. And honestly, I never really felt like I had anything that valuable to say, to a room full of other designers.
But this year, I couldn’t come up with a good excuse fast enough — so I said yes.
I was nervous (like, very), but weirdly, the moment I walked on stage, the nerves just… left.
And it actually went really well.
I shared my story: the highs, the lows, and everything in between. From failing high school, to becoming an optician, to designing glasses, then moving into graphic design, objects, and eventually also spatial installations.
I showed my entire glasses collection. It was a rollercoaster, we laughed, we maybe cried a little. I talked about mistakes, emotions, and some proud career moments too.
After the talk, so many people came up to say they were inspired, entertained, moved, or all of the above. That meant the world to me.
The line-up of the festival was incredible, and I feel really honoured to have been a part of it. I got to meet and hang with people I’ve admired for years (@hassanrahim ! @davidcurtisring ! @serbanserban !), and saw talks that genuinely blew me away (@braulioamado !).
Massive thanks to @rizon_parein who kept inviting me back despite all my excuses and “no thank yous”. And a special shoutout to my friends who showed up, cheered the loudest (@studiodumbar crew, @merijnvanvelsen, @vmragona , @connor___campbell ), and hyped up the room like true legends (@leoportooo). And lastly, thank you @booksloveliza for your feedback and advice and of course @meindertpeters 👬🏻for keeping me sane. (Thanks @vmragona @nikitaiziev @merijnvanvelsen @jordanralphdesign for the photos!)

🏎️🏁
2025 marks 100 years of TT Assen: a century of motorsport history on “de Baan”. To celebrate this milestone, I was one of the designers invited to create a commemorative coin.
🏎️🏁
For my design, I drew inspiration from the (typo)graphic world of motorsport: the TT logo, tire lettering, sponsor signage, starting grids, and of course the iconic start/finish line, which has remained in the exact same spot for 99 years.
🏎️🏁
All typography is set in italics, reflecting the speed of the sport. The type choice is based on the bold, ‘squared’ fonts commonly seen in motorsport graphics, including the TT Circuit Assen logo. One single typeface (the beautiful Skrappa by @wise_type ) is used throughout, in different fonts.
🏎️🏁
Instead of typical tire info like logos, sizes, or dates, the tire in the coin shows the shape of the TT circuit, along with the founding year and centenary. All of it surrounds the word “de Baan” (Dutch for “the Track”). During a presentation by the TT Assen team, it became clear just how much this place means to the people in and around Assen. Thousands of volunteers help make the event possible every year, and among these insiders, the circuit is lovingly referred to as “de Baan”.
🏎️🏁
My design wasn’t selected for production — the jury wasn’t quite ready for a speedy King..💨🤴🏻
Portret of his majesty by @seb_agresti thanks again for the great collaboration!
🏎️🏁

The scenography and graphic design of SIDELINED: A Space to Rethink Togetherness is the combined effort of artist Jeannette Slütter and designer Koos Breen.
For this year’s Biennale di Venezia, the duo collaborated with curator Amanda Pinatih and social designer Gabriel Fontana to turn the Dutch Pavilion into an alternative sports bar — a playful yet critical space that questions the rules and rituals of social interaction.
In this sports bar, you can watch newly designed games by Fontana, as well as various sports attributies such as jerseys, a sports newspaper, football scarves, trophies and an unconventional foosball table.

How can we disrupt the etiquettes and behaviours sports and sports architecture facilitate? At @labiennale Architettura 2025, @gabriel_fontana__ presents Anonymous Allyship as part of SIDELINED: A Space to Rethink Togetherness, the official Dutch contribution curated by @amandapinatih. Set within an alternative sports bar, SIDELINED investigates how architecture can resists exclusionary norms.
In Fontana’s latest work, Anonymous Allyship, players step onto the field without knowing their teammates. With no clear alliances, they must navigate uncertainty, observe others, and slowly form new connections. By altering the rules of team play, Fontana influences how we interact and engage with each other. Through doing so, his work transforms competitive spaces into sites of social exploration.

We are very proud to announce that we have been commissioned to do both the scenography and graphic design for the beautiful Dutch Pavillion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy.
The exhibition is commissioned by @nieuweinstituut and curated by @amandapinatih and will showcase the work of @gabriel_fontana__
SIDELINED: A Space to Rethink Togetherness is developed in collaboration with social designer Gabriel Fontana and curator Amanda Pinatih, the presentation in the Rietveld Pavilion in the Biennale’s Giardini reimagines the sports bar to question how architecture shapes social dynamics.
How can architecture resist exclusionary social norms to create spaces that nurture different ways of coexisting in everyday life? SIDELINED explores this question by presenting an alternative sports bar that continues designer Gabriel Fontana’s investigation of social dynamics through the lens of sport. By subverting traditional norms and suggesting deviations, the Dutch Pavilion strives to change the rules of the game.
In the space, designed by us (Koos Breen and Jeannette Slütter), visitors are encouraged to participate by playing a game or watching others play, and to observe how their relationship to familiar spaces of architecture might shift.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
