Sabar Bonda has this way of staying in moments a little longer than expected, not rushing past them or trying to underline what they mean. It notices the small things, the kind that usually get skipped over, and lets them breathe without turning them into something dramatic. There’s a quiet rhythm to it, where even the most ordinary interactions feel like they’re carrying something underneath, without the film needing to point it out.

What I liked is how it doesn’t feel the need to fill every space. It stays with pauses, with things not being fully said or resolved, and that gives it a certain honesty. It just moves at its own pace, trusting that you’ll sit with it rather than expecting it to constantly hold your attention.

This screening will begin with the short film Two Black Boys in Paradise. The screening will then be followed by an in-person Q&A with director Rohan Kanawade.

Anand, a 30-something city dweller compelled to spend a 10-day mourning period for his father in the rugged countryside of western India, tenderly bonds with a local farmer struggling to stay unmarried.
