We Live in Color Season Two Finale Celebrates Diversity and Community

The We Live in Color season two finale wrap party was a huge success! The event, hosted by Deaunte Damper, was held at Made Space in the Central District and brought together a diverse crowd of friends, family, and supporters.

The finale was a testament to the show’s impact and the importance of providing a platform for marginalized voices within the LGBTQ+ community. Attendees enjoyed delicious food from Jerk Shack, and Deaunte received flowers and gifts from his loved ones.

Deaunte gave a special shout-out to the team including, including Alaia D’Alessandro, Ike Everard, Ruben, Besa Gordon, Omari Salisbury, and Erik Kalligraphy, thanking them for their hard work and dedication.

The wrap party was a beautiful celebration of love, community, and diversity. It was clear that We Live in Color has touched the lives of many people, and the show is sure to continue its important work in the seasons to come.

Wow wow wow!

I cannot explain the hope that it brings even in a darkest hour to see so many community members come together to take back our HOME🖤
Thank you so much to @wwconverge for covering this so thoughtfully and thoroughly as always.

Posted @withregram@wwconverge Led by local business owners, Central District community members gathered for a conversation about community safety on Monday afternoon at Made Space (@madespaceseattle) following a wave of violence across the neighborhood and the city. Led by area business owners, community advocates, artists, residents and more were all present to propose and discuss possible solutions.

“It was full of energy and a lot of action items came out of this,” Black Coffee Northwest (@blackcoffeenw) Owner Darnesha Weary (@mrsweary) said. “We feel like we’re the ones who need to be at the table having these conversations, and this is how things need to be done. Everyone is going to have a call to action and we have all the resources within our Black community anyway.”

The meeting comes after a shooting outside of A 4 Apple Learning Center (a4applelearningcenter) left windows shattered while children were in the classroom, and another which led to the closure of iconic business The Postman (@thepostman_seattle) one year after the tragic murder of D’Vonne Pickett Jr.

“It feels great to know that we’re loved, we’re not forgotten. Our community just wants to love on us,” A 4 Apple Learning Center Founder Appollonia Washington said. “It’s beyond 23rd and Jackson - It’s what we can do as a community to support our entire neighborhood. We can’t just depend on city leadership - it’s up to us as community leaders.”

Many left the meeting feeling hope and strength. Community members came in with a goal, and many of those who spoke feel that they got a positive conversation started and that things can move in the right direction.

“We want to bring legacy and make change, and be strategic about how we do that,” Weary said. “It’s about understanding how the systems work and having clear plans.”

As I prepare to leave Atlanta, I want to share one other experience and thought with you.

On the last day of our trip we were able to meet with @officialpharmboi, whom was introduced by our Brother Ebrima @coppernumo (director of the aptly named film The Ripple Effect). We were able to see what an intentional farming community could look like and just how much a deeply knowledgeable Lance Stewart can draw through working with the land in care and inherent knowledge 🧬

I was even able to introduce them to The Guild @guildcommunity leadership in what I hope can be a very fruitful (literally) connection.

In all of this, I am learning the incredible power of imagination. A few months ago, I read Ruha Benjamins “Imagination:A Manifesto” since then, my mind has been exploring all of the abundant and beautiful possibilities.

Oppressive systems are created through the imagination of unwell men. Equally and even more powerful is the expansiveness of our collective imagination. Now is the time for us to dream, now is the time for us to choose a more excellent way, now is the time to reclaim our imagination. What could this world look like if we choose love? For one another, for the Earth, and even for ourselves more deeply. I hope you will take some time to pause and envision this for even a moment.

I also want to share with you all the last journal entry I wrote before leaving Seattle, open to all the possibilities it would hold and musing on the what could be. And in the birth place of MLK, the dreamer on the birthday of Malcolm X the activist I found more material to make real The world I hope to build.

It was a honor to join @guildcommunity in Atlanta this weekend as they celebrated 10years of community real estate development.

Thank you for all the learning and connections over the past year and for an incredibly inspiring weekend of site visits strategic planning and conversations.

I am so grateful and excited for what you all are creating collectively and cross-collectively together. You’re world building and knowledge sharing shows us what is possible and how. We are excited for what is to come as we continue to build together towards new worlds and new ways greater than we could even imagine.

See our last post for what were doing in Atlanta and building back home in Seattle 🤞🏽✊🏽

Theres a journey we’ve been on for the past few years and I think im finally ready to start to share it with you all.

For the past three years we’ve been working towards ownership, but not just for ourselves and not just for one space. Our vision is much bigger. We have been quietly world building. I have been quietly becoming a self taught Social Purpose Real Estate Developer. And this week we took one step closer.

A huge part of the vision is Community ownership and wealth building. We believe those who make vibrant communities what they are should be empowered in making the decisions about what they see and build in this place.

This has been taking LOTS of leaps of faith and LOTS of learning . This week we took another leap forward in our journeywith a visit to @guildcommunity in Atlanta to learn about the Community Stewardship Trust.

What makes this Land Trust model special is its democratic governance that means community directly makes the decisions and reaps the benefits of real estate development. This is a truly rooted and is a for us by us value system that results in real impactful things like The Peoples Grocery supplied in Black farming tradition, deeply affordable housing, and 3 local Black owned restaurants and commercial kitchens

We are excited to begin to share what we’ve been up to and where we are going. Our ask is that you continue to support us in work that is so much more than theaffordable accessible creative space we have held for the past five years. This has not been easy its cost personally, physically, financially, etc We want to keep being able to run made space while we build towards a bigger vision especially as we approach lease renewal.

You can do that through renting, attending events, sharing, donating, or volunteering all at the link on our bio or madespaceseattle .com

We are excited to share more in the coming months here and in our newsletter, as well as, a knowledge sharing session about the CST model and more later this summer.Be on the lookout and support as you can 🙏🏽 (donations at link in bio and website)

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
