The Best of the World in One Borough was a truly special event organised by @towerhamletsnow and supported by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. We were really proud to be part of of this important event delivering two creative projects celebrating the people, stories and identity of Tower Hamlets.

There have been attempts to create division or misunderstanding between communities recently and that’s why it felt especially important to help share stories that highlight what people have in common — the pride, resilience and sense of belonging that runs through Tower Hamlets. The borough has always been strongest when communities stand together, learn from each other and celebrate their differences.

This event was part of a wider programme celebrating diversity, recognising the contributions of local people and creating opportunities for communities to connect.

We created a campaign ‘We Are Tower Hamlets’ capturing residents from across the borough and their personal stories of home, belonging and community. The portraits reflect the incredible diversity of Tower Hamlets, featuring people of all ages and backgrounds, beautifully captured by photographer @rehanwjamil
Thanks to all the participants involved and for sharing your stories❤️

To make sure these stories reached as many people as possible, the portraits were displayed on digital billboards across the borough, sharing positive and powerful messages with both residents and visitors.

Alongside this, we produced a short animated film ‘Migration and Us’ which takes viewers on a journey through Tower Hamlets’ rich migration history and the many communities who have made the borough their home over generations. A big thank you to Fawzia for her research, @sanshooand Tamsin at @towerhamletsarchives for their support, and @humanstoriesfilms for editing the animation.

What does it mean to belong? Is it a place, a person, a feeling? Is it an individual experience, or something we share? What happens when that sense of belonging is lost, and how do we find it again?

Swipe to see the artist announcement for the 2026 Bow Open which brings together work from 25 artists centred around the theme of belonging, selected by young curators Mara Ahmed, Justine Enyan, Lydia Lott and Eleanor Getting with Mile End Community Project (@mcp_95). Showcasing artists from across Bow Arts’ community, the exhibition presents many artforms, including painting, print, sculpture and video, all a testament to how belonging is a practice, rooted in place, identity, memory and community.

Artists featured: @avi.art, @flickering2eyes, @markbeldan, @victoriaburgher, @eleanorburkett_london, @coatseyy, @chloecooooooper, @plastickfruits , @elecfi_, @flowers_tale_, @lucile_hae, @dagger_ax, @mzhyff, @jonny_kemp_artist, @niki.kohandel, @lord9851, @maria.stella.lydaki, @theclayisilent, @alisonporeilly, @charlotteparrburman , @sophiepopper, @sianaserres, @tarajversey and @tarajprints

We realised we never shared anything about our cooking sessions with our partners at East London Tabernacle Church on Mondays.

These sessions are always full of energy — our members learn to cook and bake, explore new cuisines, and team up to make delicious meals and snacks for everyone to enjoy. And through it all, they’re picking up some really useful life skills too!

The Full English explores the evolving food cultures of the British Muslim community through the iconic breakfast we all know and love. Once rare in halal form, it’s now a staple in homes, cafés, and fusion menus across the UK — a story of food as culture, identity, and connection.

This exhibition by Nurull Islam features powerful portraits, personal stories, short films, and a panel discussion, in partnership with award-winning photographer Rehan Jamil @rehanwjamil.
Part of the Tower Hamlets Power of Food Festival.

🚲 Together We’re Stronger

Our latest Dr Bike in Mile End showed what communities can achieve when organisations come together with shared values and purpose.

✨ 90–100 people attended
✨ Free repairs by our mechanics team — who went above and beyond because they are truly purpose-driven
✨ Community reach through Mile End Community Project’s trusted local networks

As Nurull from @mcp_95 said: “Dr Bike is a lifeline — it makes the difference between leaving your bike at home or keeping cycling.”

With support from Tower Hamlets Council, this event was a great example of partnership in action — practical, people-centred, and rooted in making cycling accessible for everyone.

🚴‍♀️☀️ Summer-ready bikes, summer-ready community!

Between 90–100 bikes checked, repaired and fine-tuned – from brake pads to cables – all prepped for the summer holidays!

We shared cycling advice & guidance, handed out some quality freebies and gifts and put locals to the test with @lime ‘Respect the Red’ challenge 🚦🚲 – seeing who really knows their cycling & red-light rules!

A fantastic day helping residents get on their bikes for summer.

Huge thanks to @towerhamletsnow @bikeworksuk @lime @eastendcycles @teammccycles and our brilliant volunteers ❤️

We’re fortunate to have the support of @lime bikes for our organisation — helping our team and volunteers get around, connect with others, and create new experiences for those who hadn’t used a Lime bike before.

Lime bikes have been a real benefit to us. They’ve made it easier and quicker for us to reach meetings and destinations — often much faster than on a standard bike. They’re easily accessible, fun to ride, and can take you right up to your destination.

Thank you, Lime, for making a difference to our work and our community!

Bike storage is one of — if not the biggest — barriers to cycling in our community.

Many residents simply don’t have enough space at home to store a bike safely, and leaving one outside often means risking the bike being stolen. As highlighted in our last post, bike repairs can also be very expensive — yet, despite these challenges, people in our community are still determined to cycle.

That’s where schemes like the Santander cycles ( @transportforlondon ) discount offers have made such a huge difference.

With these bikes, people don’t have to worry about storage or maintenance. Yes, using Santander bikes means planning journeys a bit more carefully — but the benefits far outweigh that.

Thanks to the support of @towerhamletsnow our community has benefited enormously from this scheme. To date, we’ve signed up over 300 people, supporting more than 9,000 trips on Santander cycles and we have also been acknowledged to most residents up even as a grassroots org!

Discounted cycling schemes are vital — they help our residents choose healthier, more active travel options that work for them.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
