💬 Marinos describes how we supported this publication in becoming a reality; “The Der Greif X MPB (@mpbcom) scholarship came at the right moment, offering meaningful validation of the quality and relevance of my photographic work. It also provided essential support in developing the project further and ultimately bringing it to completion as a photobook.”

Officially launched in March at Unseen (@unseenphotofair) 2026, “Strawberry Blue” began after the artist’s migration from Greece to the Netherlands, where he was seriously injured in a road accident shortly after arriving.

An arduous recovery process, along with upheaval in adapting to an unfamiliar environment, triggered an inner quest for belonging and identity redefinition. Over time, Tsagkarakis wandered a local Dutch park, observing its shifting, dreamlike terrain and connecting with strangers and the natural world. 💬 Marinos describes how we supported this publication in becoming a reality; “The Der Greif X MPB (@mpbcom) scholarship came at the right moment, offering meaningful validation of the quality and relevance of my photographic work. It also provided essential support in developing the project further and ultimately bringing it to completion as a photobook.”

Officially launched in March at Unseen (@unseenphotofair) 2026, “Strawberry Blue” began after the artist’s migration from Greece to the Netherlands, where he was seriously injured in a road accident shortly after arriving.

An arduous recovery process, along with upheaval in adapting to an unfamiliar environment, triggered an inner quest for belonging and identity redefinition. Over time, Tsagkarakis wandered a local Dutch park, observing its shifting, dreamlike terrain and connecting with strangers and the natural world. The work reflects an off-kilter sense of resilience, persistence, and growing new roots. 🪴

This chapter, entitled Sentimental Vocabulary (after the title of his autobiography) is part of the program MUSEUM OF FRIENDSHIP X TEMPLE OF LOVE, curated by Gaëlle Choisne and Eva Vaslamatzi. The first chapter took place at Scuola Piccola Zattere in Venice in May 2025 under the title Temple of Love. Coeur and included a selection of Haitian paintings from the Drot collection. The Temple of Love is an evolving project by Gaëlle Choisne, shaped by its invitations and locations. Its collaboration with the Museum of Friendship in Ios island will unfold into additional chapters across Italy, Greece, France, and Haiti.

In this subchapter, multiple voices approach the figure of Jean-Marie Drot and the stories embedded in his collection through lectures, performances, and interventions unfolding over six hours, as an informal and alternative homage. Please, find attached the detailed program.

The talks and performances will be in English. Admission is free.

The performance attends to what usually escapes notice: the infra-ordinary. Working with adhesive tape as a provisional and fragile material, the artists trace spaces, gestures, and works that no longer exist or are about to disappear. Walls, rooms, and everyday functions are redrawn onto the exhibition space as bodily memory rather than image.

Absence becomes active: works are outlined, re-enacted, and remembered through movement and trace. What unfolds is not a reconstruction, but a rehearsal of inhabitation: a way of staying with what is no longer fully present, and of sensing how meaning persists lightly, temporarily, infra-ordinarily, in the space between presence and disappearance.

Inviting a slower mode of experiencing and sensing, Word Bank turns the infra-ordinary into a terrain for discovery. A small engraved aluminium block topped with a piece of koto, the work becomes a vessel for the unsaid: whispers of communication, traces of scent, and meaning stored in silence. Language dissolves into surface; perception slows; intimacy thickens.
Noguchi’s distilled object of thought shares, with the exhibition’s wider gestures, an insistence on reclaiming the overlooked, resisting spectacle through attention.
