Neri&Hu Design and Research Office
An inter-disciplinary architectural design practice founded in 2006 by Lyndon Neri @nerilyndon and Rossana Hu @rossanahu
From the encounter between Mutina and Neri&Hu (@neriandhu) emerges Weaving, a collection of ceramic surfaces inspired by the refined art of bamboo braiding. Echoing the spatial language that defines Neri&Hu’s architecture, the collection translates ceramic material into a silent yet powerful presence—capable of entering into profound resonance with its surroundings.
Weaving is an exercise in cultural translation: a considered tribute to the memory of craftsmanship, where heritage and innovation are interwoven through a deliberate and conscious exploration of form.
Discove the collection at Casa Mutina Milano!

The lecture will address themes of ruinophilia and pentimenti. The basis for adaptive reuse more often than not, are actually non-romantic relics from the past. These remnants nevertheless pose important questions in terms of sustainability and construction waste management, as well as deeper philosophical questions regarding originality and authorship. In our confrontation with this set of issues, we refer to Svetlana Boym, who suggests “off-modern” relationships between preservation and development, advocating for designers to engage with traces of the past - past authors, builders, failed projects, and revealing the traces of non-realized compositions. @polimi #neriandhu #milan #lecture @nerilyndon @rossanahu #milanpolitecnico

We are pleased to announce the appointment of @neriandhu Design and Research Office as lead architect for our upcoming residential development in Wadi Al Safa 3, near Al Barari and The Wilds in Dubai.
This marks the first project in the UAE for the internationally acclaimed Shanghai-based practice, founded by Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu.
The forthcoming project will feature a residential tower with curated amenity spaces and ground-level retail. True to Neri&Hu’s design ethos, the architecture will explore layered materiality, textured surfaces and spatial depth, while residences will be designed to foster a seamless connection with nature.
The project will join Al Ghurair Development’s growing portfolio of design-led premium residences, including The Weave in Jumeirah Village Circle designed by Joe Adsett, and Wedyan designed by Kengo Kuma, under the Al Ghurair Collection super prime brand.
Further details on the Wadi Al Safa 3 development will be revealed in due course.

Lyndon Neri, Hon. FAIA (@nerilyndon), and Rossana Hu (@rossanahu), Hon. FAIA, Founding Partners of Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, have been invited to deliver a lecture as part of the Pratt Sessions at Pratt Institute in New York. @pratt_galaud @prattsoa
The subject of this lecture is a paper prepared for the International Committee of Architectural Critics (CICA), forthcoming from Park Books, Zurich, under the title Architecture between Autonomy and Engagement. The paper‘s theme provides a framework for examining how architectural practice navigates between two seemingly opposing ideals: Autonomy and Engagement.
Pratt Sessions are a format for discourse at the Department of Graduate Architecture, Landscape, and Urban Design. Each session is devoted to an in-depth exploration of a single project by one author or practice.
The lecture will take place on March 6, 2026, from 6:15 PM to 8:15 PM (EST), at Higgins Hall Auditorium, Pratt Institute School of Architecture, Brooklyn.

We are deeply honored to announce that our Founding Partner, Rossana Hu (@rossanahu), has been named an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (Hon. FAIA).
Recognized for her interdisciplinary urban transformations, culturally restorative activism in reclaiming erased heritage, and radical pedagogical approach, Hu stands as a singular force across three domains: a practitioner designing resilient identities, an activist spatializing equity, and an educator shaping the next generation of architectural thinkers.
The AIA Honorary Fellowship program honors international architects for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society on an international level. We are incredibly grateful to @aianational for this recognition, and are proud to stand alongside the 2026 Class of Honorary Fellows.
The Investiture Ceremony will take place at the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design (AIA26) in San Diego, June 2026.

We are thrilled to announce that Neri&Hu’s designed Kimpton Da An Hotel @kimptondaanhotel has been recognized with one MICHELIN Key in the first global the MICHELIN Key Selection. @michelinguide
Located in the pristine Da‘an district of Taipei, the concept for the hotel design was to create an interior sanctuary – an urban retreat that offers a sense of calm and respite from the city’s bustling streets and alleys, without losing the vibrancy and richness of its unique urban context. The challenge for Kimpton Da An was how to convert a residential building into a hotel due to the idiosyncrasies of the plan. To work with the many variances across the room types, bespoke wooden millwork elements were strategically tailored to each room type to create various functions catering to the guests‘ needs.
The first global MICHELIN Key Selection provides a comprehensive update of hotel recommendations across North America, Europe, and Asia, and for the first time covers nearly 100 destinations across all six continents. All MICHELIN-Key Hotels awarded a MICHELIN Key represent the pinnacle of the global hospitality industry and meet the highest standards of hospitality and quality as defined by the MICHELIN Guide.

The MICHELIN Guide officially released the first global MICHELIN Key Selection, which includes hotels from China for the first time. We are delighted to share that The Sukhothai Shanghai @thesukhothaishanghai, designed by Neri&Hu, has been awarded one MICHELIN Key by @michelinguide.
The Sukhothai hotel in Shanghai is an introverted fortress in the middle of the city‘s urban clamour, offering momentary insulation to travellers seeking a space of refuge away from the dramas of daily life. This project is an externalization of an abstracted inner landscape, a hushed zone in both its physical environment and the mentality it evokes. Throughout the public spaces of the hotel, the omnipresent sense of enclosures created with wooden screens and translucent layers of curtains cocoons the guests during their sojourn, creating a psychological distance away from the city.
The MICHELIN Guide, with over a century of history, now introduces the MICHELIN Key to recognize hotels that offer exceptional hospitality experiences. With the MICHELIN Key, the guide has established a new, independent, and global benchmark for excellence in hotel experiences.
