Welcome to nthspace Torino @dl.vajda!

David Vajda is a writer and director based in Berlin and Vienna.  At nthspace Torino he plans to finish his first novel.  Diamanten is about the death of a mother and the sarcasm of her four children—a tale of grief and cinema inspired by the works of Natalia Ginzburg, Turin’s grande dame of literature.

David has contributed stories to The Guardian, Edit, Dummy, Reportage and The Financial Times Weekend Magazine.  In 2021 he premiered a 51-minute film co-directed with his brother Saša Vajda—JESUS EGON CHRISTUS—at the 71st Berlinale and is currently developing his debut feature with funding from the Austrian Ministry of Culture.  He holds a BA in Philosophy from University College London and an MPhil in International Relations and Politics from University of Cambridge.

Diamanten will be published by Hanser Berlin in March 2026, in part funded by a 2025 Work Stipend for Literature from the Berlin Senate.

The collaboration between @almanac_eu and @nthspace continues with the residency of Marta Bogdanska (@marta.bogdanska)!

In Turin, Marta is leading a research in the archives to look into the visual history of animals linked to the city. 

On 2-3 of May she will lead, in collaboration with @grosso.bernardo, ‘Sound Stories from the Former Zoo’, a workshop who invites participants to explore the potential of sound as a way to tell stories differently—shaping narratives that consider animal presences, invisible traces, and the relational ecologies that have passed through and still inhabit the former zoo. Marta has been invited by Ginevra Ludovici (@ladymuckbet) for her research project on the difficult heritage of the Anthropocene, starting from two symbolic sites in the city: the former zoo and the Botanical Garden of Turin. The project is commissioned by Almanac.

Almanac is supported by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo (@fondazionecompagniadisanpaolo), Fondazione CRT (@fondazionecrt) and Regione Piemonte (@regionepiemonte.official).

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between Almanac and NTH, marking the beginning of an exciting exchange in Turin’s cultural landscape. Our first project together welcomes curator Ginevra Ludovici (@ladymuckbet) in residence at @nthspace.

Ginevra’s research explores the difficult heritage of the Anthropocene through the city’s former zoo and the Botanical Garden. Part of a research project and a public program commissioned by @almanac_eu, it will examine the historical, ecological and cultural impact of these sites, questioning their narratives and transformations.

The program includes workshops led by @aterraterra (@fabioaranzulla and @lucacinquemaniplantsandfungi) and @marta.bogdanska, culminating in a series of performances that offer a critical and imaginative reinterpretation of these spaces.
