The Wightwick home perches on a hill in Brookhaven. A family Jeep, complete with rubber ducks, rests in the driveway, alongside their four-seater, custom Georgia Techthemed white and gold golf cart, which is the preferred mode of transportation, especially on weekends. Guests are greeted by bouncing black Labrador Rockie, so named for her owners’ second home in Colorado, as light streams through the glass front door into the foyer. Whether it’s the dog or the sunlight, the home instantly makes you feel warm; it’s the same vibe you get from Andrea and Andy Wightwick and their two preteen children. This is a place where you’re welcomed.

The Wightwicks have lived in this house since 2014. At the time, their daughter was 2.5 and their son 7 months old. “We really wanted a house that could grow with our evolving lifestyle. A wide street for biking and dog walking, in close proximity to Dresden’s hot spots, was important,” Andrea says. The house is more than just a place to rest; it is the family epicenter.

It is here that both Andrea and Andy dreamed-up their more than four businesses. Andy owns and operates a couple of IT services companies and has never met a gadget he didn’t immediately want to tinker with. Andrea, a self-proclaimed information sponge, heads Hapsy, a bubble-free, non-alcoholic canned cocktail line. The former president and chief people and operations officer at Cox Enterprises spent four decades at the communications and automotive company. But after discovering Serenbe, something shifted. In 2019, Jill and her husband, George, attended an outdoor play at the Chattahoochee Hills planned community located about a one-hour drive from Buckhead and began to think about a calmer way of life.

“My husband and I were looking around, saying ‘Wow, what is this place? This is amazing,’” Jill says. “We started thinking maybe we should buy land or a house to retire in someday.”

That someday seemed far off, so the couple settled for purchasing a lot they could eventually build on. They continued to visit Serenbe on weekends and became more invested in the community with the purchase of a work-live condo unit with a ground level commercial space and residential in early 2020 in Serenbe’s Mado Hamlet and partnered with a local Serenbe resident on a Pilates studio. Soon after the studio opened, COVID hit. Jill, like many employees, began working exclusively from her full-time home in historic Brookhaven.

“One day, I just thought, ‘Why do we live in Brookhaven?’ I called a realtor friend and asked her, ‘What’s the market like right now?” Jill says.

It wasn’t long before an interested buyer approached with a hard-to turn down offer, and they sold their home, completely furnished.

“We came to Serenbe that weekend and bought one of the three-story townhouses on Selborne Lane,” she says. “We moved in, and so did the neighbors next to us, and so did the neighbors next to them. We were all there brand new at the same time, and we had a ball...”

Watch as our real-life mom-and-daughter models, Holly and Scarlett, frolicked among the pastel-hued flowers in gorgeous sundresses.
