A little glimpse into the work behind the images from the fireside conversation with Boots Riley, Natasha Braier ASC and American Cinematographer at @petits_salons , talking about the process behind I LOVE BOOSTERS. Now we finally get to watch it together!

On May 22nd, the DEEP-LIGHT community is coming out to support the theatrical release of I LOVE BOOSTERS. Come see the film with us at AMC Burbank and then join Natasha afterwards for drinks, hangs, and an informal Q&A at Barney’s Beanery in Burbank at 11PM.

Tickets for the AMC Burbank screening are almost sold out, but you can also catch the film elsewhere and still come join us after for drinks. No panel and no stage. An informal hang with the deep-light fam and open to everyone who wants to join.

This past Monday at @petits_salons was incredibly special, with live appearances from Boots Riley, Guy Pearce, and Natasha Braier ASC!

The evening opened with a conversation from @bootsriley and @natashabraierasc to discuss their upcoming film @iloveboostersmovie 🛍️ It was so special hearing Boots (writer/director) and Natasha (DP) speak about their creative collaboration, their mission to tell stories that make a difference, and the power of art as a connector across humanity. Thank you so much to Boots and Natasha for spending the evening with us, and challenging our perspectives on the meaning and power of art!

Following the Q&A, we launched into our screening of THE ROVER, another film that Natasha worked on as DP. We had a delightful surprise — Guy Pearce showed up for an introduction and Q&A! Guy and Natasha shared stories from their time shooting the film in Australia 13 years ago, exploring the relationship between actor and cinematographer, and the magic that can be found on screen when that relationship is strong. Thank you so much to Guy and Natasha for coming to visit the @petitermitagehotel rooftop and share this incredible work with us!

I LOVE BOOSTERS will be released by @neonrated on May 22nd.

This Monday, April 27th @petits_salons invites you to a CONVERSATION WITH @bootsriley AND @natashabraierasc to discuss their upcoming film @iloveboostersmovie ✨

Note: This event does NOT include an advanced screening of I Love Boosters. This will be a conversation on the making of the film followed by a filmmaker’s surprise screening for our audience.

I Love Boosters is an absurdist comedy that follows a group of shoplifters who steel high-end fashion and resell it at discounts. When they take aim at a cutthroat CEO, it escalates into a battle of class-struggle. Similar to Boots Riley’s past film, Sorry to Bother You (2019), the film explores anti-capitalist rhetoric through social satire and will no doubt make for an entertaining making-of conversation.

Last Monday @Petits_Salons screened #TerrenceMalick’s directorial debut BADLANDS (1973), starring #MartinSheen and #SissySpacek!

It was one of our favorite nights on the rooftop of the @petitermitagehotel.

@sampressman, son to the film’s executive producer Edward Pressman and head of @pressmanfilm joined us to share the company’s history with the film and how they’re moving forward. It was a pleasure to hear about their auteur-focus and desire to be “soldiers of cinema in the trenches together”. Thank you for joining us!

Written, produced, and directed by Terrence Malick, Badlands is landmark of American independent cinema. The film is loosely based on the real life murder spree of Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugit, following an impressionable teenage girl from a dead-end town and her older greaser boyfriend as they embark on a killing spree in the South Dakota Badlands.

@gold_star_music opened the night with an awesome live set. It was so great to have you!!

Monday April 13th, @Petits_Salons will be screening #TerrenceMalick’s directorial debut BADLANDS (1973), starring #MartinSheen and #SissySpacek.

Our very special guest for the evening will be @SamPressman, son to the film’s executive producer Edward Pressman. Edward stood by Malick’s unconventional vision and together they delivered an iconic piece of cinema. Sam has taken the helm at @PressmanFilm, modernizing the studio by expanding into television and decentralized financing models while continuing to develop its deep library of intellectual property. Most recently Sam produced Gus Van Sant’s DEAD MAN’S WIRE and is currently in development on a much anticipated reboot of AMERICAN PSYCHO.

Join us on the magical rooftop of the @petitermitagehotel. Doors open at 7pm with full bar, great food, and a live music.
