As if there weren’t already enough reasons to love Ping Chong, to love Brooklyn and its communities, to love live theatre, and civic action!
These shots are from Brooklyn ‘63 - a 2013 production by Ping and Talvin Wilks that brought the fight for Civil Rights to the stage. From the Ocean Hill-Brownsville strikes to the legacy of The East in Bed-Stuy.
It’s moving to come across images like these, images that remind you that our collective future is built on a cross-cultural legacy that’s been real, is real, and always will be.
We decided to post this in recognition of Ping’s ties to Brooklyn, ahead of an upcoming event at the Brooklyn Museum on May 2nd, where 13 mins of Untitled Ping Chong Doc will screen as part of the Museum’s AAPI Heritage Month celebrations. Advance tickets are sold out, but more will be released online at 10am on May 1st + be available at the door at 5pm on May 2nd. LINK IN BIO FOR MORE INFO.
TL;DR – 13 mins of Unt. Ping Chong Doc will screen at Brooklyn Museum at 6pm on Saturday, May 2nd!
Advance tix are sold out, BUT
More release online May 1st @ 10am.
+ Limited tix at the door May 2nd 5pm.

Lunar New Year with Ping Chong — a beautiful day to be behind the camera 🧧

We’re thrilled to thank Pink Fang for their enthusiastic shout-out at their Hunter College Ping Chong Symposium for our film in progress. Our tribute to Ping Chong reflects the spirit of community that continues to inspire our work.
This project is all about connection—celebrating the artists, friends, and communities that make sharing stories so meaningful. We can’t wait to bring this film to all of you and continue these conversations together.
We’re excited to share archival treasures that capture the incredible people and moments at the heart of this story.
Wishing everyone a joyful holiday season filled with creativity, connection, and inspiration!
Happy New Year!

This past year, we had the honor of documenting incredible events celebrating NYC’s arts and community, including Chinatown, My Chinatown: A Literary Evening and a beautiful night honoring Cantonese Opera with @thinkchinatown . From Ping Chong and his family to Ava Chin @ava_chin, Alvin Eng @alvin.eng8 , Henry Chang, SJ Rozan, and Radha Vatsal, these gatherings remind us why this work matters. We’re deeply grateful to all the communities welcoming us into these spaces and can’t wait to share the stories, moments, and archival treasures that make this work so meaningful. Carrying this community-first spirit with us into 2026!

At a moment when public support for the arts is increasingly fragile, stories like Ping Chong’s matter more than ever.
For over five decades, Ping’s work has centered voices too often left out of our cultural record.
As we close out the year, we’re inviting our community to support the completion of this documentary and help ensure his story is preserved and shared with care.
Year-end contributions help us complete the film.

#ThrowbackThursday takes us back to 1994, to a monumental moment in the world of theatre. That year, Perry Yung @perryyungofficial and Ping Chong joined forces for “Deshima,” a revolutionary production performed at the iconic La MaMa Theater

It’s difficult to imagine a world without Ozzie Rodriguez, the beloved director and keeper of @lamamaetc La MaMa Archives. He has been a central figure to our film throughout its process as an ally, a participant, and a dear advisor. He generously trusted us with his beautiful presence on camera, and lit up every frame, enamoring us with his stories and his passion. He was kind and generous, with a true compassion that was profoundly felt. Ozzie, you will be dearly missed, and will remain in our hearts forever. We are forever blessed with your presence both onscreen and off. One of our most treasured moments and memories now in loving memory.

As we reflect on our work in 2024 we’d like to share a personal highlight – gifted dancer, choreographer and frequent Ping Chong collaborator Muna Tseng @munatseng graciously welcomed us to her beautiful creative home to film a conversation together. Hearing Muna’s personal perspective on the pivotal turns of performance artmaking of the 70s, 80s and beyond bring depth and light to a history of experimental artmaking in America – and Ping Chong’s profound journey across societal and cultural change.
How did arts funding change and evolve? How did artists like she and Ping cope and adapt to such changes? How did the AIDS crisis – so beautifully reflected in Muna and Pings’ work for the stage Slut for Art - impact their personal journeys? How did cultural identity impact their careers in artmaking in America?
Finally, can art connect across trauma, grief and memory?
Thank you, Muna, for opening your heart to us. We are excited to share a few beautiful stills from our filming together.

Wishing you warmth and joy this holiday season! As 2024 comes to a close, we’re filled with gratitude for the powerful stories and voices that have shaped Ping Chong documentary journey.
How incredible to sit with our hero Bill T. Jones @billtjonesarniezaneco to talk about Ping’s work, experimental theater and dance in America, “otherness” in the art world, and the importance of experimental art to American expression and democracy. Thank you for generously trusting us with your beautiful presence and perspective. We can’t wait to weave the powerful ideas and stories you’ve shared into the gorgeous tapestry of our film and Ping’s story.

What a weekend! Thrilled to share BTS stills from a very special shoot with Ping three years in the making. Thank you to TipTop props for loaning us those amazing setpieces! (an inspiration for our experimental projections!) Thank you to Ford JustFilms @fordfoundation , Mellon @mellonfoundation and CAAM @caamedia for believing in us and for allowing us to embrace the spirit of play and experimentation in this work. We strive to carry Ping’s beautiful legacy of experimentation forward in our filmmaking! Thank you to our incredible crew - Ed @eddavid.mov , Adrienne, Isaac, Yixin, Matt, and our wonderful supporters at La MaMa and PCC - we couldn’t have done this without you. The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
