We’re honoured to attend - the UKMVAs are a serious cultural institution. This is a big one for our film and for @picloc.productions. “Film has always been my first impression of cinema since childhood. I have always loved and yearned for the visual quality of works from the golden era of Hong Kong cinema, and now, as I work in the film industry, I want to bring back the emotions I felt as a child to the audience.

The Hong Kong films from the 80s and 90s were the teachers for many directors, including myself. However, it seems that contemporary Hong Kong cinema struggles to evoke the same feelings. Therefore, I hope to gradually catch up with the footsteps of my predecessors through my own work, starting with the quality of the imagery. Unfortunately, there are too many restrictions in Hong Kong for shooting entirely on film, which has made it hard for me to realize this dream.

I am fortunate to have this experience, as I can shoot with Kodak film in the UK. Although due to various limitations I couldn’t shoot locally in Hong Kong, it still allows me to recreate the emotions I felt as a child through film imagery for today’s audience.” - Director THE 11TH

“Film has always been my first impression of cinema since childhood. I have always loved and yearned for the visual quality of works from the golden era of Hong Kong cinema, and now, as I work in the film industry, I want to bring back the emotions I felt as a child to the audience.

The Hong Kong films from the 80s and 90s were the teachers for many directors, including myself. However, it seems that contemporary Hong Kong cinema struggles to evoke the same feelings. Therefore, I hope to gradually catch up with the footsteps of my predecessors through my own work, starting with the quality of the imagery. Unfortunately, there are too many restrictions in Hong Kong for shooting entirely on film, which has made it hard for me to realize this dream.
