“No Way Back is an extremely special place for me. It’s rare that I feel the freedom to cut loose and play 100% from my heart and gut, corralling so many disparate genres into a single 90-minute musical thread, but it’s even more rare that you get to do that sort of thing in front of a packed, screaming crowd who wants me to do exactly that.
Because it’s so special in that way, every year I push myself to play different music and make specific edits specifically for the occasion, and this set from 2025 was no different. I played 6 of my own edits that I hadn’t played before, and there were a ton of beautiful crowd moments as a result.
This set was also a bit different because I challenged myself to bookend the set with Aleksi Perala and Aphex Twin tracks, filling the middle with even more disco than usual, all while ramping up the tempo to set up @__bbmmgg__’s techno wormhole. Overall, I think it draws a solid connection between where the party started and where it is now, and I hope these sentiments come across to both NWB attendees and the audience at home.” — @ptrckrssll

Now based in Brooklyn, New York, Patrick has built a career defined by depth and endurance. From multiple Mix of the Year accolades and an Art of DJing feature via @resident_advisor , to a residency at @mostrabcn and regular appearances at Japanese institutions like @mindgames.labyrinth @rural.jp and Paramount, his trajectory reflects both global reach and underground credibility. His extended narrative sets exemplify his commitment to patience, flow and total immersion.

"Being raised in the Detroit techno and house scenes will leave a mark. Exposed to this fertile, creative landscape on a weekly basis, experiencing DJs like Mike Huckaby, Theo Parrish, Claude Young, and Jeff Mills taught Patrick Russell the utmost importance of music selection, storied programming, and technical excellence, all of which he has continued to tirelessly hone over decades.
Currently based in Brooklyn, NY, Patrick has achieved numerous career milestones: multiple Mix Of The Year awards from Resident Advisor and Vice; an Art Of DJing feature on RA; a residency at the esteemed Mostra festival in Barcelona; the honor of yearly appearances at festivals in Japan such as Labyrinth, Rural, and Paramount; and presenting long-format narrative sets of up to 24 hours, just to name a few.
Along with playing the most prestigious events around the globe, he continues to deliver rich, sonic experiences back home—as an original resident of the legendary No Way Back events, a resident at The Bunker New York, and gracing every stage at the DEMF/Movement festival in Detroit, including a featured Main Stage appearance in 2024.
Equally at home in the studio, Patrick has created dozens of unique remixes and is in increasingly high demand for his renowned productions. He is constantly editing and re-working older material, ranging from acid to disco to IDM, to include in his sets and challenge the definition of what’s possible—whether it’s on the dance floor or in an experimental listening set, he will stretch the limits of your imagination and rewire the way you think about music."

Now on #MostraTV 🎬 Patrick Russell 🖤
This interview with Patrick Russell is part of #MostraTV — In Their Own Words, a series of conversations with some of the artists that will be shaping Mostra26 📺
Patrick Russell reflects here on storytelling as an instinct rather than a concept, the art of DJing, and how shaping a set often feels closer to a dialogue rather than to a genre selection.
The conversation moved through his formative years between Detroit and Chicago, the long-term influence of figures like Jeff Mills and Theo Parrish, and how learning never really stops, whether behind the decks or in the studio.
Patrick also speaks about his relationship with Mostra from its earliest edition, what it means to be invited as a resident into a project built on trust, and why festivals rooted in the local scene tend to create deeper, more lasting connections.
Thank you, Patrick, for having joined #MostraTV 🫂

We're proud to introduce our DJs for this midwinter edition of HYBRID IDENTITY:
Patrick Russell was shaped by the Detroit techno and house scenes, where weekly exposure to DJs like Mike Huckaby, Theo Parrish, Claude Young, and Jeff Mills instilled a deep commitment to music selection, narrative programming, and technical excellence—principles he has refined over decades. He has long been one of our favorite DJs, not just for his technical command, but for the care and intention behind every set. At home and abroad, Russell remains a vital presence: an original resident of No Way Back, a resident at The Bunker New York, and a longtime contributor to Detroit’s Movement festival, including a featured Main Stage appearance in 2024.
Vile is a DJ and producer from Medellín, Colombia, blending hypnotic, raw techno with electro and experimental sound design. Drawing from both local roots and global influences, their sets immerse listeners in spaces of tension, movement, and release.
KXAH is an NYC-based sound artist and curator, blending techno, acid, EBM, and textured electro into immersive, long-form sets. Drawing from underground club culture, modular experimentation, and her curatorial work with ambient and experimental artists, her performances unfold as fluid journeys shaped by tension, movement, and release.
FRDM b2b Wryen opens the night with a pairing of two Brooklyn-based selectors whose approaches meet in deep, driving club music. FRDM, a founding member of the Locked Groove collective, builds extended, hypnotic grooves through layered percussion, futuristic atmospheres, and relentless rhythmic momentum. Wryen draws from a wide-ranging archive to shape sparse, dub-informed techno with patience and precision, informed by years of involvement in NYC’s underground.
threehz is an NYC-based selector exploring the emotive edges of techno, experimental, and ambient music, drawing inspiration from sludgy dark psychedelia to pulsing, warp-drive drum tracks. Whether rinsing healing or destructive frequencies, as the namesake suggests, threehz crafts textured, curated soundscapes heard across NYC event series and residencies for The Lot Radio.

This edition of HYBRID IDENTITY leans into a midwinter mood with stripped-down techno, electro, and hybrid experimental sounds in an intimate, DIY space. A gathering shaped by long-form thinking, textural range, and careful momentum—this edition is designed to be felt slowly, collectively, and without rush.

Hybrid Identity is a queer-centered collective, exploring spaces between anything hybrid. This is a shared space—respect and consent come first. Harassment of any kind won’t be tolerated. If something feels off, please find a staff member. Keep the dance floor conversation and phone free, we set up cozy hangout areas just for that.
The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
