BERLIN BIGUINE 🪕

Berlin Biguine is back in the Berlin scene and brings to life the musical heritage of Martinique and Guadeloupe, revisiting the golden era of biguine from the 1930s to the 1950s.

Inspired by the Antillean musicians who transformed Parisian nightlife, the ensemble blends creole melodies, Afro-Caribbean rhythms and touches of jazz into a fine, groove-driven sound.

More than dance music, biguine unfolds here as a poetic and living tradition : warm, syncopated and deeply creole.

A very unique project forecasting a music rarely heard on German stages we are looking forward to having with us for the next edition of Barrio Sonoro!

"La Guadeloupéenne" is a rumba-biguine composed by trumpetist Abel Beauregard.
"Sépan Meg" was composed as "Tickled to Death" a ragtime from american composer Charles Hunter.It was later turned into a biguine and renamed by the legendary clarinettist Alexandre Stellio.

Berlin Biguine at @bechereck was a beautiful success.
We were thrilled to perform again for the first time in three years.
It was especially heartwarming to see friends from the swing dancing community come discover the beautiful music of Antilles and try their feet on biguine, valses and creole mazouk!, congratulations!
