A few months ago I opened one of the A Word A Day email compendiums and saw the name Uma Krishnaswami in there. I’ve been an admirer of the author for years and have read and loved many of her books. I wrote to the email id next to her name and asked if she was the same person.

She responded warmly, told me she knows of me and my books and that she’d recently picked up India in Triangles. She also invited me to write a guest blog on her website and during our emails back and forth, she even managed to casually drop incredible pieces of advice and support.

How is it that some people are so incredibly wonderful?

Anyway, the post is online now, where I’ve written about the process of writing WHEN SCIENCE STOOD STILL, and if you read her introduction, you will realize the extent of her generosity.

The rest of it is up on her website - https://www.umakrishnaswami.com/blog/guest-post-shruthi-rao-on-when-science-stood-still

A beautiful evening at the fundraiser with @tandembayarea at the gorgeous San Francisco Veterans War Memorial. It was lovely meeting special guests @charlottemakesbooks and @kaylanijuanita and hanging out with our books! Thanks to @the_artful_author for the great company! Nothing better than getting to talk about my books with people and signing a bunch of copies of THE FIRST GIRL ON STAGE (@devika_joglekar and @yalibooks)

The INDIA edition of WHEN SCIENCE STOOD STILL is now in bookstores (and online you know where) across India!!

Thr pictures below are from Crossword Mumbai (thank you @padfootblack25) and Crossword Bangalore (thank you @bhattacharyya.madhumita )

The third picture and the review below is from @gangannaradhika who immediately got herself a copy (as she’s always been doing with my books) as soon as she heard it’s available in India

“A beautiful story of science and perseverance by Shruthi Rao and @srinidhidraws , written in lucid, simple language! It’s the perfect gift for kids this summer. Truly appreciate authors who are striving to keep children engaged and happy through their work amidst all the chaos around us.”

I’m in the Indian Express!

I rather like this interview about me, my writing roots, my childhood, and my work in children’s books.

Arnav Chandrasekhar asked me questions that I haven’t been asked before, which is always a nice surprise. Had to think on my feet.

Link in comments.

Hey Bay Area folks! I’m reading WHEN SCIENCE STOOD STILL on Feb 7 at the lovely Banter Bookshop, Fremont CA.

Looking forward to meeting kids (and grownups) who like stories of space, black holes, science and scientists, discovery, and satisfying stories of people who eventually receive the recognition they deserve!

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
