Out Today: “Night Turns” the first single from Karsh Kale’s upcoming new album, Dust.

“Night Turns” is a masterful fusion of distorted tabla and bansuri set against electric guitar-laden grooves. Complemented by Kale’s vocal style, the track serves as the definitive opener for a genre-bending musical journey. Loosely inspired by the 90s cult vampire film “The Lost Boys”, the song evokes perfect imagery of how the night can be a time for inspiring transformation. The song is “perfect storm” of ambient rock and electronics that feels simultaneously nostalgic and completely fresh, further elevated by the contributions of guest artists John Shannon, Ankur Tewari, and Warren Mendonsa

I start the show with a heavy beat splicey techno take on ‘Gaita Gaita’ by Thornato, this track would be great to play out at a DJ set. Then onto a lovely little reggae track from ‘Noori and his Dorpa Band’.

I then quickly move onto introducing our live guests in the studio, the wonderful Turkish singer ‘Umut Adan’ and his devilishly brilliant band, the itlain trio that combine skills to create the melodic backbone of the project - named - ‘Zebânis’.

We spoke about how their devine muscial and soul connection, the inspirations behind the more political messaging in their songs, the styles each member brings to the table and how their musical style has evolved over the years and the future looks like.

The energy in the studio was alive, warm and fantastic, seeing the camaraderie, love and sheer passion they have for what they are playing and for each other made this interview a personal favourite getting to hear a uniquely stripped back version - this makes listening to the show even more special.

Yes, that’s right, yes, you’re correct. Today, the album ‘Başka Bahar’ by Umut Adan & Zebanis is out on all platforms under the Six Degrees Records label. Our album clearly reflects what we think, what we desire, and what we want to convey to people along the way. Of course, it went through a very long process and reached you thanks to the efforts of far more people than you might imagine.
‘Başka Bahar’ was created to deliver, in the most detailed yet pure form, the sorrows of all Eastern societies, their remaining hopes, and the rare things that can emerge when hope itself seems absent—music with an element of closure.
In lives trapped by all kinds of anti-human conditions of our era, we also want to express our protest through music. We want to flow, to move, to go—seeking OmarKhayyam.

Albümümüz, ne düşündüğümüzü, ne istediğimizi ve bu süreçte insanlara ne anlatmak istediğimizi açıkça yansıtıyor. Elbette çok uzun bir süreçten geçti ve tahmin edebileceğinizden çok daha fazla insanın emeği sayesinde size ulaştı.

Woman in Punjab is officially out now.

I am so deeply moved to finally share this new single with you, released just in time to celebrate
#internationalwomansday via @sixdegreesrecordsofficial . This song is a powerful reinterpretation of @sade classic “Pearl,” but it carries a heartbeat that belongs entirely to the soil of Punjab.

This track sheds new light on the quiet strength and struggle of single women in rural India, painting an emotional portrait of perseverance, dignity, and love in the face of hardship. Recorded between London and Bangalore, the song blends ethereal vocals with a lush string arrangement performed by @bangalorestringensemble

The sonic landscape was shaped by the renowned @talvinsinghmusic , whose additional production and mix bring depth and atmosphere to this heartfelt performance. While staying true to Sade’s soulful spirit, the lyrics have been reshaped to tell the story of a young, pregnant woman working tirelessly in Punjab’s wheat fields under the scorching sun.

The result is a song that reveals the heartbreak of so many women that live in poverty, yet remains invisible.

This is an offering to those women who are the true role models - the real heroes.

I feel so humbled to be able to share this story of Women in Punjab through the art of music and animation.

There is something so healing about bringing these two worlds together to honor the incredible resilience of the woman of Punjab. I am so grateful to share this glimpse with you all.

As we prepared for this cover image, my heart kept returning to a single thought: the contrast. Here I am, a Punjabi woman draped in this vibrant Phulkari, a dupatta that carries the soul of our culture and is usually worn for our most joyful celebrations. But as I wear it, I am mindful of the woman this song is truly for.

Look at the grace we are allowed to carry, and then look at her. She is the one standing in the heart of the struggle, often invisible, yet she is the most resilient of us all. Woman in Punjab is an offering that bridges these two worlds. It is a reminder that even as we celebrate our lives and the beauty we are blessed with, we can hold space for those who are still waiting to be seen.
