Judo has been part of my life since I was young. I first stepped onto the tatami at the age of six, and after many years, and a few detours, I came to realise it is a discipline that has shaped me deeply.

In 2023, Dobra was invited by Pedro Carvalho and Clube de Judo do Porto to design and develop the new identity for Clube de Judo do Porto. The challenge was to adapt the existing identity to the club’s growing reality, its multiple disciplines, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and, at the time, the possibility of having Yoga. We designed a identity system built around movement, inspired by judo throwing techniques such as uchi-mata and seoi-nage, where balance, projection and flow are essential. The lettering itself becomes an expression of motion, translating the physical language of the sport into a visual one. The identity unfolds across three categories, the club as a whole, Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, and extends from competitions and Judo Kids tournaments, to a complete Mizuno equipment line for the athletes. Founded in 1965, Clube de Judo do Porto remains deeply rooted in the values of Jigoro Kano, respect, discipline and continuous growth.

In 2023, Dobra was invited by Pedro Carvalho and Clube de Judo do Porto to design and develop the new identity for Clube de Judo do Porto. The challenge was to adapt the existing identity to the club’s growing reality, its multiple disciplines, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and, at the time, the possibility of having Yoga. We designed a identity system built around movement, inspired by judo throwing techniques such as uchi-mata and seoi-nage, where balance, projection and flow are essential. The lettering itself becomes an expression of motion, translating the physical language of the sport into a visual one. The identity unfolds across three categories, the club as a whole, Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, and extends from competitions and Judo Kids tournaments, to a complete Mizuno equipment line for the athletes. Founded in 1965, Clube de Judo do Porto remains deeply rooted in the values of Jigoro Kano, respect, discipline and continuous growth.

The title draws inspiration from Michel-Rolph Trouillot’s phrase “The West doesn’t exist. I know, I’ve been there”, reimagined here to reflect the European context.

This year marked the first chapter of the festival’s new three-year program, “The Movement of Peoples”, a cycle dedicated to humanist perspectives on migration, displacement, and belonging. Our work accompanied this mission across a wide range of materials: street posters, large-scale banners, a catalogue, a newspaper, postcards, socks, and more.

José Afonso: Live at the Coliseu – Triple Vinyl, Double Digipack & the single “O Que Faz Falta”.

In a previous post, we shared how meaningful this project is to us and the importance of bringing this edition to life.

On 29 January 1983, Zeca Afonso performed at Coliseu dos Recreios in one of his final concerts, just months before his last show in Porto. His legacy has endured far beyond his passing in 1987. This iconic night was captured in both audio and film, becoming an essential document of his work.

We had the honour of redesigning this new edition—now in a meticulously remastered triple vinyl—restoring the richness of multiple audio sources. One of the family goals was to highlight the many musicians and friends who joined Zeca on stage that night.

Previously unseen colour images from Luís Filipe Rocha’s footage helped bring this vision to life, selected at the Anim/Cinemateca, now featured in this edition. Another key element was the original concert manual, which included the setlist, lyrics, and personal messages of support written for Zeca. These are now featured in the vinyl inlays and back cover.

The digipack edition includes a spot varnish cover, keeping a signature detail across all +5 editions.
