Artist and photographer @sheekswinsalways is best known for her portraiture, but her first solo exhibition in the UK moves her work across a broader terrain.

Opening at @public.gallery this week, the exhibition presents twelve new works spanning silk, mirrored surfaces, aluminium, and collage – marking a significant moment in the New York-born, Los Angeles-based artist’s career.

Titled 𝓞𝓷𝓵𝔂 𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮 𝓒𝓪𝓷 𝓑𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴 𝓨𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓗𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓽, the exhibition explores transformation, reflection, and the persistence of memory — with grief treated not as an end point but as a place of transition. Flowers appear throughout as a recurring motif, standing in for beauty and fragility in equal measure.

As an early Ala Champ Magazine collaborator, Shaniqwa’s work has a signature identity, her portraiture is incomparable. Creating creative and original editorials for our print issues, where every person she photographed was able to shine through her lens. Now expanding her artistic practise, the depth to Shaniqwa’s work is now being shown across the world from New York and Los Angeles to London and Tokyo. Alongside the exhibition, Jarvis releases her second book GUTS, published by Tokyo-based publisher @superlabo , with the book launch at @climaxbooks in London.

At agnès b. CAFÉ Gion, we are pleased to present Upmost for the Highest, an exhibition by Jeremy Elkin, as part of the KG+ program.

The exhibition comprises works from Jeremy Elkin’s first photobook, Upmost for the Highest. The project is based on research he conducted over a two-year period during his visits to Jamaica. The photographs we are presenting were taken over a 10-day period during his last trip to the island.

On the second floor, a work capturing the hands of Jamaican reggae musician Addis Pablo playing the keyboard is presented as a large-scale washi installation measuring approximately three meters

The exhibition comprises works from Jeremy Elkin’s first photobook, Upmost for the Highest. The project is based on research he conducted over a two-year period during his visits to Jamaica. The photographs we are presenting were taken over a 10-day period during his last trip to the island.

On the second floor, a work capturing the hands of Jamaican reggae musician Addis Pablo playing the keyboard is presented as a large-scale washi installation measuring approximately three meters

SUPER LABO proud to announce the release of our new book ON A MISSION by @craigcostellonyc

In my early twenties I started taking my camera everywhere I went. I documented much of my life, graffiti and all that comes with it. Over time, I saw everything gets buffed. It’s a cycle of painting and being painted over.

The photographs are my view as an insider, showing the process, candid moments, and venturing into the unknown. I was nonstop in the studio and in the street, day and night, all on my own terms. I was on a mission to create, to be seen and heard, to have fun, and to live, even if fleeting.

ON A MISSION is a selection of images from my archive, the majority of which have never been shown.

20代前半の頃、私はどこへ行くにもカメラを持ち歩くようになった。自分の生活の多く、グラフィティやそれにまつわるあらゆるものを記録した。時が経つにつれ、すべてが塗りつぶされていくのを目の当たりにした。それは、描くことと塗りつぶされることの繰り返しのサイクルなのだ。

これらの写真は、インサイダーとしての私の視点から、そのプロセスやありのままの瞬間、そして未知の世界への冒険を捉えたものではある。私はスタジオでも街中でも、昼夜を問わず、ひたすら自分のペースで活動し続けた。たとえそれが儚いものであっても、創造し、人に見られ、声を届け、楽しみ、そして生きるという使命を帯びていたのだ。
