✨ Meet the Text my Sister team! ✨

🟩 JULIA FIDDER is co-founder, within Text my Sister she mainly caters to international partnerships and oversees general coordination and the exhibition exchange program. This year she is the curator of the year program 'The Day it Rains Jellyfish'.

🟩 MYRIAM GRAS is curator of research at Text my Sister. She coordinates research processes and promotes interdisciplinary collaborations within the program. She is the editor for the Text my Sister publications.

🟩 XENIA TSOMPANIDOU is curator at Text my Sister and is dedicated to integrating a political lens to the program. Besides curating, she takes care of communication and production activities.

Text my Sister was founded by artist @michaeladavidova_ and curator Julia Fidder. This year we are accompanied by artist @len.creutzburg as guest curator, and newly also by @anna.m.kudryashova as a producer.

Last week, Moe Mustafa performed ‘The Echo of your skin’ at @vanabbemuseum In the album he explores the connection between sound and memory.

The performance was an outcome of his residency with @vanabbehuis and @textmysister_ , Atheer Soot took visitors on an atmospheric journey through calming and melancholic sounds, creating a space where sound, emotion and memory came together. His work is currently on view at Van Abbehuis, curated by Text my Sister.

🎬This outdoor screening event is part of The Day it Rains Jellyfish, a body of research and an exhibition trilogy exploring conspiracy as a way to challenge dominant narratives and the idea of a single objective truth. In this frame and following the exhibition ‘On Re-evaluating Value’, we’re looking for short films that are rooted in solidarity and use counter-narratives to (re-)tell stories about themes such as immigration, settler colonialism, class & labour and gender representation. We also welcome speculative, poetic, and fictional works that question how value is constructed, internalized, and resisted.

The selection of films will be screened alongside already programmed works at vanabbehuis in Eindhoven at the end of June. A fee between 40€ and 125€ (including VAT) is reserved per artist, distributed according to the length of the work.

On Thursday 14 May from 19.00 the spaces become a juncture of 80s cassette-sets, textile truth telling and disassociative audiovisual fragments. The exhibition will be opened with an introduction by curators Julia Fidder & Xenia Tsompanidou.

In samenwerking met Text my Sister opent volgende week de nieuwe tentoonstelling 𝘖𝘯 𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦 haar deuren. Op donderdag 14 mei (Hemelvaartsdag) is de ruimte vanaf 19.00 gevuld met 80s cassettesets, textiele interventies en audiovisuele fragmenten. De tentoonstelling wordt geopend met een inleiding door curatoren Julia Fidder & Xenia Tsompanidou.

RE-EVALUATING VALUE investigates the assignment of social and political value to human beings, and questions its relation to the power hierarchy that is embedded within knowledge production, story telling and truth-building. To go towards a different understanding of value, we need to overthrow the values that are installed upon us by dominant culture and undermine the patterns that shape our understanding of value. Power influences the ways in which we perceive the truth through allowing only those with the most privileged identity to become tellers of truth while rejecting the proposition of alternative stories. By contesting this monopoly in truth-telling, the exhibition proposes to re-assign value as a form of solidarity.

1: 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝗶ë – Directeur Astrid Cats schuift aan. Studio Assisië ontwikkelt kunst en cultuur op een landpark waar mensen met en zonder beperking samenkomen, met ruimte voor nieuwe samenwerkingen en projecten op locatie.

2:𝗜𝗝𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗯𝗶ë𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲 – Curator Koen Bril is aanwezig. Deze internationale buitententoonstelling realiseert kunstwerken in het landschap langs de IJssel en begeleidt kunstenaars in het werken op locatie.

3: 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗠𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 – Oprichters en curatoren Julia Fidder en Xenia Tsompanidu komen speeddaten. Dit platform maakt vrouwelijke perspectieven zichtbaar via tekst en interventies in de openbare ruimte.

4: 𝗕𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 – Directeur Erik de Jong schuift aan. Dit unieke varende kunstfestival biedt kunstenaars de kans om grootschalige, experimentele werken te realiseren op het water in Den Bosch.

5: 𝗧𝗔𝗖 – Directeur Tom Swart en programmamaker Ursa Prek zijn aanwezig. TAC in Eindhoven is een broedplaats waar makers ruimte krijgen voor experiment, ontwikkeling en presentatie binnen een multidisciplinaire omgeving.
