Half-Life Lab by @m_nieto24 , another intervention situated in Chernobyl Half-life is the time taken for the radioactivity of a specific isotope to decay to half of its original value, becoming safe to handle. Scientists use this method of dating to determine the approximate age of organic objects and thus the story of its origins and their history of human use. The exploration into this characteristic property creates an awareness of mortality, death rates, and lasting signatures. In other words, understanding half-lives can allow us to frame our pre-determined existence within the greater rhythmic cycle of time. This intervention provides monitoring, data storage, laboratory equipment, and information accessibility in order to provide a new transparency to the nuclear industry and their efforts, while also incorporating research utilities for speculating a post-nuclear society after geo-engineering; the second half of our lives.

🎙 Episode 020: How Can Architects Fight for Racial Equality?
.
Barnes’ research and design practice investigate the connection between architecture and identity, examining architecture’s social and political agency through historical research and design speculation. Learning from historical data and perspectives from within architecture as well as cultural and ethnic studies, he examines how the built environment influences the social and cultural experience. Born in Chicago, IL Germane Barnes received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Architecture from Woodbury University where he was awarded the Thesis Prize for his project Symbiotic Territories: Architectural Investigations of Race, Identity, and Community. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor and the Director of The Community Housing & Identity Lab (CHIL) at the University of Miami School of Architecture, a testing ground for the physical and theoretical investigations of architecture’s social and political resiliency.⠀
⠀
In the episode, we talk about his background, where he comes from, and what experiences he had that made him think architecture was the best career to pursue him. He tells me about the time he got arrested in his very own front porch, because he "fit a description of a black guy that had stolen some shoes," and he also tells me about the constant discrimination that he was faced with by his very own professors at his undergraduate school. We then talk about his trip to Cape Town, South Africa, where he did pro-bono work for low-income families, which changed his whole understanding of architecture completely. We then talk about where he is at now, fighting against racial discrimination in the most violent neighborhoods of Miami, Florida.

PROJECT | Project from @mesura.eu, digital drawing from @pa.per.narratives | House by the Ocean, central Africa | “It connects the outside and inside world. It’s a pedestal that plays with wide views onto the ocean and a close, dense experience of nature. The house is solid, durable and aware of its surroundings, at peace with itself.” @pa.per.narratives
•
QUOTE | «The strongly visual nature used to transmit architecture demands a reflection on the general role of the images in the construction of the imagination. ...
When the theorists of the imaginary employ the term « image » they tend to refer mostly to mental, literary or poetic images. However, we are also interested in the process by which the mental image is crystallised into visual form. Such a process starts with the mental form, that of an image and ends with the materialisation of a physical (or, even, digital) form, the picture. »

Working with a fantastic contractor and their highly sustainable panelised construction system at Albion Street Studios, Rotherhithe, will allow for minimal wastage, less time on site and full demountability in 10 years time. All this - and it’s a net-zero building (producing more electricity than it will use)! Can’t wait to get on site.... Working with the amazing @meanwhile_space and @southwarkcouncil .

🎙️ Episode 019: Behnaz Farahi / Interactive Architecture for the Human Body
.
Today we have a really interesting guest which I'm sure most of you may have definitely heard of in the past. Behnaz Farahi (@behnazfarahi) is a designer, creative technologist, and critical maker working at the intersection of fashion, architecture, and interactive design. "I think the discourse of architecture is already going through a change, we are no longer just designing buildings with column and ceiling, we are designing way more, we are designing experiences, designing products, designing fashion items, so I think architecture as a discipline is already changing." Her work addresses critical issues such as emotion, bodily perception, and social interaction.
.
In the episode, we talk about everything! And I mean, everything. She runs us through a short description of her childhood. Where she grew up, and why she came to the United States in order to acquire her architecture education. We talk about her degrees, which by the way, she has a Bachelor, two Masters, and most recently a Ph.D.! Amazing, right? Well, we talk about what those degrees mean to her and why she decided to stay in the world of academia. We talk about how she started developing wearables, and what experience pushed her closer to technology. We talk about how she got to work with amazing companies such as Adidas, Autodesk, Fuksas Studio, and Will-i-am, even NASA! And finally, she goes in-depth into her vision for the future of architecture and technology; BUT, more importantly, how to be intentional with technology, and how to use it for the benefit of solving a social problem, instead of for the sake of it.

LEARNING AND RECONCILIATION: ENVISIONING NORTHERN EDUCATION
Education has long been at the center of discussions across Inuit Nunangat (the non-state country of the Inuit people in Canada), where high school graduation rates remain low, and access to post-secondary education is limited. The challenges are also deeply intertwined with the history of residential schools in Canada. The studio focuses on issues of post-secondary education in the region of Nunavik, in northern Quebec, which is home to 13,000 Inuit, living in 14 communities. The studio observed the intersection of architecture, environment, culture, and new northern vernaculars, and the role decolonization might play in these relationships.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
