After 6 years, I had the honor of returning to Dharamshala for the inaugural Tibetan Artist Festival @tibetanartistsfest with Metok my Dranyen. During this short visit, I feel truly blessed to have received His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s blessing in person. How fortunate we are to walk this earth in his presence. Presenting these to His Holiness and Amala felt like offering them to my own parents, who left this world too early. A whole book of emotions, I could built a world out of this single moment.
Over the last five years, I’ve been enjoying making music with my dear friend - Composer Robert Davidson and we have formed a little ritual of musical weekly meet ups when we are both home in Brisbane. He’s been suggesting I do a concert with his group Topology—an amazing musical band—and I’ve never played with them yet.
On May 9 at 7pm, I’ll be doing an intimate, super improvised concert, grounded in that familiar space I share with Robert, but opening into something new with the group.

MESSAGE
I wholeheartedly endorse the powerful appeal for peace made by the Holy Father, Pope Leo, during his Palm Sunday Mass.His call for the laying down of arms and the renunciation of violence resonated profoundly with me, as it speaks to the very essence of what all major religions teach.
Indeed, whether we look to Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism or any of the world’s great spiritual traditions, the message is fundamentally the same: love, compassion, tolerance, and self-discipline. Violence finds no true home in any of these teachings.History has shown us time and again that violence only begets more violence and is never a lasting foundation for peace.
An enduring resolution to conflict, including the ones we see in the Middle East or between Russia and Ukraine, must be rooted in dialogue, diplomacy and mutual respect — approached with the understanding that, at the deepest level, we are all brothers and sisters.
I urge for and pray that the violence and conflicts may soon come to an end.

LINGBHU & TWO DOUBLE BASS - “afterlife of sound”
Such a beautiful experience being part of @4000Records’ Slow Listening concert with Matt Hsu and East of West.
We each shared a 30-minute set, and in the final 13 minutes of mine, I invited Goran Gajić from East of West to join Robert Davidson and me on a second double bass. It felt like being surrounded by two giant, resonant insects.
My closing piece was a super beautiful improvised: voice, poetry, and flute woven with two incredible double basses. Sharing here 3 minutes of the flute sections from that 13 minutes moment of pure magic of slow listening.

17th March 1959
A young Tibetan film student recently experimented with my song “Kyichu” from the album Be the Sky to tell the story of the escape of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on the night of 17 March 1959.
Today marks the anniversary of that night, when he quietly left Lhasa and began the long journey into exile.
Some of the clips appear to be from the film Kundun. I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to share, but the student’s intention felt sincere and heartfelt, so I’m sharing it anyway.
