May is already here—and the parks are alive and ready for you to explore. ☀️ Whether you’re hitting the trails, birdwatching, reflecting on a powerful story, or sipping craft beer with a national park view, this month is packed with reasons to get outside and make the most of it.

This month also kicks off the Formerly Incarcerated Speaker Series on Alcatraz Island—a powerful program lifting up the voices of people who have experienced incarceration, running select Saturdays from May through September.

And over on the mainland, cap off the month at the fourth annual Parks4All: Brewfest on Saturday, May 30—a Bay Area craft beer festival with food trucks, live music, and so much more, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Presidio. Proceeds support inclusive parks programs for all.

Read on to discover how to make the most of your time in the parks. With our full lineup of recurring programs below, there’s always something that fits your schedule. 🌿

Daily: Campfire Program at Presidio Tunnel Tops, Ranger Station at Muir Woods, and Welcome to Muir Woods

Tuesdays: Tennessee Valley Tuesday Stewards

Wednesdays: San Francisco Habitat Stewards, Alcatraz Historic Gardens, and Sutro Heights Historic Landscaping & Maintenance (1st & 3rd Wednesdays)

This #AAPIHeritageMonth, we want to share a powerful new exhibition hosted by the National Japanese American Historical Society (@njahs1980) and @PresidioSF. "I Am An American: The Nisei Soldier Experience" recounts the stories of Japanese American soldiers who served during World War II while their families faced incarceration at home. Through firsthand accounts, historic photographs, and rarely seen artifacts, the exhibition centers personal stories.

This limited‑time exhibit reflects how parks can be a space for reflecting on difficult history while inviting learning and connection.

All communities should have access to the benefits of nearby nature, and that means breaking down barriers to park experiences that might feel inaccessible, like birding. That’s why the Parks Conservancy, Presidio Trust, and partners like Latino Outdoors host Bilingual Birding events in the national parks of the GGNRA.

To see the full video and experience the joy of Bilingual Birding, go to annualreport.parksconservancy.org. You can also play a fun, GGNRA version of Lotería to learn more about park species, and see all the incredible impact people can have for parks. Thank you!

Did YOU volunteer during the restoration of Crissy Field? Do you still have your "Help Grow Crissy Field" T-shirt? If so, we want to hear from you! Let us know in the comments, or send an email with your memories to parksconservancy@parksconservancy.org. 📬🌁💚

The transformation of Crissy Field, 25 years ago this May, was a massive community effort. More than 3,000 volunteers helped remove 230,000 cubic yards of soil and restore Crissy Marsh. Today, the area is a wonderland for birds and other species, thanks to you! If you missed that effort, you can still get out there and volunteer today. Check the websites of the Parks Conservancy, Presidio Trust, and NPS for the latest volunteering opportunities. Thanks for helping Crissy Field grow!

Today we're celebrating 25 years since the transformation of Crissy Field 🎉🌁🥳! Before 2001, Crissy Field was in severe disrepair. Through the hard work of the Parks Conservancy and @GoldenGateNPS, along with the generosity of the community and the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, along with thousands of volunteers, the park was transformed into the urban oasis we all know, love, and enjoy today.

So, call up your loved ones and tell them to #MeetMeAtCrissy☀️📞🪁. How do you enjoy this beloved park space? Let us know below!

The Parks Conservancy 🤝 community science.

The Parks Conservancy’s Associate Director for Community Science, Lisette Arellano, was featured in @SmithsonianMagazine, spreading the good word about the impacts of community science on giant salamander populations!

In partnership with @OneTamalpais, researchers are collecting observations to further their understanding of where giant salamanders are living and the health of Mt. Tam as a whole.

By logging observations on @iNaturalist, ANYONE can help our local scientists gather findings that will help inform decisions about how to care for the salamander’s habitat.

There’s no better place to spend Earth Month than in the parks.

Before we celebrated 100K, we had to celebrate 90K! We took 10 of you on a hike around Fort Point and wrapped it up in the Presidio with some great food.

I’m constantly reminded how special this city is, and I’m so grateful to the team at Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy for helping me experience San Francisco in a whole new way.

Follow @ParksConservancy for more information on how to support your national parks.

Here are a few highlights:

☀️ Slides 1-2:Junior Ranger Day in Muir Woods
☀️ Slide 3: Mt. Tam Earth Day Stewardship
☀️ Slide 4: Stewardship at Black Point Historic Gardens
☀️ Slide 5: City Nature Challenge at Lobos Creek

These are only a FEW of the incredible programs hosted by the Parks Conservancy and our partners for Earth Month, thanks to the amazing volunteers and staff who came out to support our parks!

We believe in the power of future generations! 💚🌱 That’s why the @GoldmanPrize and the @ParksConservancy were excited to partner for an event with the Inspiring Young Emerging Leaders (I-YEL) program this spring.

I-YEL and other Crissy Field Center youth programs prepare the next generation of climate leaders by connecting young people with parks as living classrooms for climate resilience. Through hands-on projects in national parks, youth learn about climate challenges, strengthen leadership skills, and take action to support resilient communities.

During the event at the Crissy Field Center, youth met with the 2026 #GoldmanPrize winners and heard their stories of community action and environmental leadership firsthand. From stopping fracking projects to protecting forests, the Prize winners prove that ordinary people can have an extraordinary impact.

Thanks to everyone who made this such an inspirational event!

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
