To see Irit Rogoff (@iritrogoff) — someone whose thinking has shaped me for well over a decade, from the Grove Fish Bar through to my MA research in Philosophy and the Kounsel gathering as part of Joshua Leon’s (@lamentology) @chisenhalegallery commission — mention my work in her recent @arselectronica presentation Knowing Catastrophe is profoundly humbling. Her reflections on grief as a social relation cut to the heart of what I’ve been working to articulate in my own practice and research. After recent challenges, to feel seen within the presence of such wise and generous thought is something I will carry forward with deep gratitude.

Thank you to my dear colleague and friend @gemadarbo for bringing this to my attention 🤍

It’s hard to put into words what this moment means. Begin Again, my new year-long commission for Tate Modern as part of Gathering Ground, is a deeply personal and professional milestone. The work is a reflection on ecological grief and our collective need to reimagine connection and renewal.

Endless thanks to the curators @helennimhaille @odessamarie_ @marleen.boschen, and director of program @_catherine_wood_ for their trust, support and vision throughout this process. Huge thanks also to my production collaborators Saul Eisenberg (@rubbishmusician) and @davemeckin for helping me to breathe life into the work, along with the incredible @Tate installation team; for we’ve achieved something so surreal and humbling.

The monthly support groups will start tomorrow afternoon and are open to all, aiming to foster dialogue and reflection—because healing happens in relation. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey, in particular @sallyruthdavies who will help to convene the groups: we begin again, together.

#repost • @proyectosultravioleta: Two works by 𝗔𝗯𝗯𝗮𝘀 𝗭𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗱𝗶 are now on view at @setareh’s exhibition space in London, as part of the group exhibition 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, which was made in collaboration with @harlesdenhighstreet.

In 𝘪’𝘮 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘶𝘥 (𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵), porcelain bowls from Zahedi’s late mother’s dowry, filled with soil from her gravesite, hold an intimacy that resists commodification. Together, these works question the aesthetics of legitimacy; what is deemed valuable, what is preserved, and what remains untranslatable.

Zahedi’s 11&9 installation includes 20 editions of biographical records (𝘴𝘦𝘮𝘪-𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘦𝘭𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘻, 2021). The photocopied records are housed within the drawers of an old filing cabinet. Zahedi then invites the public to participate in an act of exchange—replacing the records with objects of equal integrity and personal significance. In doing so, he transforms the rigid visual order into a living, evolving organism shaped by collective contribution and individual offerings.

We’re live again next Monday with a studio session from @thomasthinks 🫀🫀🫀 25 MAY 11am-12pm CET

@refugeworldwide radio presents ECO: The ExtraCorporeal Orchestra | @sonicsupport.co, @abbzah & @thomasthinks

Abbas Zahedi and Tom Harris present a monthly series of live performances and radio transmissions exploring grief, care and the act of listening. Each month alternates between live sessions recorded at @royaltrinityhospice (London) and studio sessions by Tom Harris (Nottingham), with Zahedi and Harris as the creative core of the series and space for additional collaborators across both formats. Every iteration takes a distinct, improvisational approach to shared presence and engagement with experiences of grief, death and dying.

The series forms part of a wider year-long project — SONIC SUPPORT: ECO (The Extracorporeal Orchestra) — in which Zahedi works across hospices, hospitals and public sites to create spaces for collective and individual listening, exploring how sound can support reflection, care and creative expression within end-of-life and healthcare contexts.

SONIC SUPPORT: ECO forms part of @imperialcharity Artist in Residence Programme, delivered in collaboration with @studiovoltairelondon, and supported by @aceagrams and Imperial Health Charity.

#repost @culturefile: 🎵 Abbas Zahedi’s Fast Moving Air, Post-Appalachian, Inishturk

In Dublin @dhg_dublin an armory of sonic devices are improvised and repurposed by Abbas Zahedi, including a commercial sonic weapon called an LRAD, which the artist has converted to broadcast poetry; then some we’re-just-going-to-go-ahead-and-call-them post-appalachian sounds from the fiddle and the banjo with Nora Brown and Stephanie Coleman; and for dessert, an island postcard from Inishturk by composer and writer, Patrick O’Laoghaire.

Tune in tomorrow evening Saturday 16th May, 6.30pm, to RTÉ lyricfm's Culture File to hear artist Abbas Zahedi discuss his exhibition 'EX/IT: LIFT' with presenter Luke Clancy.

As a starting point for his exhibition, Abbas drew connections between two pre-modern horns – the Celtic Carnyx and the Persian Karnay – both of which functioned as instruments of gathering, warning and orientation. Presented in Gallery 1, a new work 'LIFT' takes the shape of these horns and inverts it. Here, nine chrome plated trombone horns are arranged in a large circle pointing to the floor. As an instrument, it remains inert until several people gather and lift it.

Visit Abbas' exhibition this weekend. The Gallery is open Saturday and Sunday, 12 - 5pm. Free and open to all.

A guest mix for @dublab. I gave @bas_ibellini access to an archive of my sonic compositions; recordings that trace through exhibitions and installations exploring altered states of consciousness, life support, and the sustaining power of music and nightlife. He made something quietly extraordinary with it. Listen tomorrow online 6-7pm UK time and on Dublab’s archive shortly thereafter 🤍🫀🙏🏽

Thank you to @christeeeene for the invitation and for suggesting this image by @hichambenohoud to represent the mix 👁️‍🗨️

Currently on view at 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗹𝗮𝘀 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗲, 𝗔𝗯𝗯𝗮𝘀 𝗭𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗱𝗶’s solo exhibition 𝘌𝘟/𝘐𝘛: 𝘓𝘐𝘍𝘛 presents a newly commissioned body of work that interrogates bureaucratic systems – administrative, religious, institutional, and militaristic.

Through a series of sound sculptures, some of which sound alarms, whilst others reflect endless rhythms of manual labour or ritual practice; Zahedi explores the capacity of the gallery space to challenge dominant systems through dialogue and collective action.

A programme of events runs throughout the exhibition where works are activated in sequence by the participants. The programme is grounded by a simple but demanding question: 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘵? 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘵?

🛎️ 🎺

Thanks to everyone who pulled up for the talk at The @dhg_dublin last night. The conversation with @ianmcdonnellmusic touched on sonic cultures, resistance, displacement, and the infrastructures that carry collective memory, ending with a collective activation of LIFT, blasting 120 decibels of air powered sound through the space.

This unleashing of this vibrational force takes place in parallel to Gallery 2, where @bushradunne’s poem Keening with rain plays through an LRAD, a sonic weapon first deployed by the US army in Iraq in 2003. The same device now carries her voice, weaving personal grief with the Iraqi epic poem Rain Hymn and the Irish tradition of keening.

The connection between the gallery, its team and the community it generates is something incredibly special to witness. Thank you again to everyone 🫀🙏🏽

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
