‘Flora ex Machina’
.
A sound installation about the hidden sounds of trees. The sound inside of the trunk of six trees in the Beatrixpark in Amsterdam were recorded and amplified inside of the Kunstkapel.
.
With akg411s carefully mounted on each tree and 600m XLR cable spread throughout the park I could record their movements simultaneously and document a day of twisting and turning in the wind.
.
The installation was an attempt at isolating very specific and hidden sounds to recreate how the natural forces act and fluctuate within a restricted area. My intention was to turn the exhibition space into a multichannel stethoscope, a sensory extension of sorts.
.
Exhibited in the context of The Shadow Floriade, produced by @thewarpperformances.

A glimpse into my latest installation—In:Resonance—an exploration of network of resonating tubes suspended throughout the brutalist church.
.
These tubes act as carriers, reshaping frequencies and throw the sounds up against the ceiling. This 16 channel sound piece plays with space as a liquid, where shifting frequencies and fractured harmonics bleed out into and play with the churches unique acoustics.
.
In: Resonance, a Fractured Organ
.
Endless gratitude:

@dethomas020, for this opportunity.
@kodychambers , for your generous help building up.
@astrid.ardagh , for lending me your camera to make this reel.
@jochemesser , for the metalwork.
@casimirgeelhoed , for our composition workshop.
@maxfrimout & @aina.fontz, for joining the final concert.

Boudewijn Cnossen, for believing in the proposal.

Mira, Leo & the entire Thomaskerk crew, for full access and late nights and many deep conversations.

This was made possible with a one time subsidy from Stadsdeel Zuid.

More soon.

@andreas.tegnander presents a sound design workshop on transforming simple sounds into evolving structures using effects, feedback, and modulation. Moving beyond synthesis, participants explore shaping sound through gain, delay, and interaction.

MOTION TRACKING 🔊🫧🫧 This is a motion tracking algorithm where I scroll through layers of textures using around 12 different movements. There are 12 crossfaders, and different heights and zones to route the sound into different effects chains. Fun but messy 🥰

Sound ON! 🔉

For the project Grainy showers Coarse base created together with Alexandra Hunts @alexandrahunts and Johanne Hestvold @johannehestvold I developed audio algorithms that interpreted future prediction of the climate in Bergen, Norway. In this process I applied philosophical theories of rhythm analysis from Henri Lefebvre to create an algorithm that interprets the data as a series of rhythmical behaviours, more similar to the natural cycles of nature. Every month has its own sounds allowing you to pinpoint where you are in the data and outliers in this data became triggers for details.

Lefebvre’s rhythmanalysis

Lefbvre understands the world as being composed of interacting rhythms that structure time, space, and experience. He distinguishes between cyclical rhythms (natural, repeating patterns such as day and night or seasons) and linear rhythms (human-made sequences such as work schedules or mechanical repetition). These rhythms overlap to form polyrhythmia, where multiple temporalities coexist, or arrhythmia, where they fall out of sync, revealing tension or disruption. Rhythm, in this sense, becomes a way of reading how bodies, environments, and systems are continuously shaped through time.

In:Resonance is back at murmur, extending their legendary Kantarion sound system!

Link in bio!

In:Resonance is a spatial audio event series that transforms extraordinary spaces in and around Amsterdam into immersive sonic environments. It will be an evening exploring unheard textures, sounds, and special gems from their practice, plus new music pieces they want to explore on the spatial setup. Bringing two omnidirectional speakers from our arsenal, we are setting up six channels and two subs to play and experiment with.

Andreas Tegnander @andreas.tegnander

Tegnander about his presentation “I build a world with tiny cracks. / I trace them backwards in time, to the first change of pressure, the moment it decided it would crack in the first place. I push gently, and watch it all implode. I stand and watch in awe… then i do it again!”

Constanza Castagnet @constanzacastagnet

Constanza is an Argentine artist based in Amsterdam. Her practice unfolds across sound, experimental music, writing, and moving image, with the voice as its point of departure. Trained as a vocalist and with a background in communication and language, her work questions the habitual uses of the voice, exploring what it can become when it ceases to function as a vehicle for meaning and transforms into sonic matter.

Nadia @n.adia__________

Nadia is a solo performer focusing on live electronic improvisation in spatial systems. Using custom sampling techniques, a world of strange spatial rhythms emerge. Inside of this cloud of sounds, moments flow in and out of focus. Memories emerge and overlap, while the music fluidly blends between genres, moving in a constant flux between confusion and clarity.

‘it is like listening to music from a 4th dimension perspective’ – Tegnander

Sound ON! 🔊

Some images from earlier this month at @theaterrotterdam , where I was invited to set up the sound piece The Center Cannot Hold as part of Welcome to our Guesthouse.

5.1 installation trial ‘The Center Cannot Hold’
Researching textures that collapse, contrast, and transform.

📸 1 @bart_grietens_photography

Thank you so much for the opportunity to try out something new and to experiment with the space. Letting this small experiment unfold was very beautiful, especially exploring such a dry space, a huge contrast to the reverberant environments where I usually present my pieces. Also had fun creating the new hanging platforms. Cocoon era is incoming.

Hopefully I will share some more audio and process soon.

Hiding behind the audience...

Playing behind the audience is interesting.
It is both safe and strange.
It’s like giving 200 people a sonic backrub,
or as if I am piloting a big container ship and people’s experiences are the cargo.
I am trying to make sure I don’t lose too many overboard. But a few is okay.
It lightens my load…now we can go a bit faster.

Again @stefandaniels is there to capture the moment... thank you .

It shifts the focus into the space, hopefully forcing people to listen differently... I am looking to strike a balance where each element gives the other more depth, not distract and reduce or over-simplify... Next period I will keep on exploring different ways of creating a visual experience that acts as gates.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible.
