Suiker Droom [Sugar Dream] - A Commissioned two-channel video installation for the Douane Laboratorium, Amsterdam. The lab was created in the late 19th century for the research, analysis and taxation of sugar: This project explores the complex and difficult history of that sugar and how the Douane Lab came to be. Combining 3 hours of animation and tilt-shift videography: A tug boat dreams a dream so deep that it reaches through space and time, witnessing a collective memory of mis-adventure, exploration, exploitation, suikerriet [sugarcane] and suikerverdriet [sugar sorrow].

Screening at the eelpit: Lucky by Emilia Bergmark
We’re happy to invite you underground for an afternoon of screenings of ‘Lucky’, a short film by @emiliabergmark , filmed together with @cctym , on Saturday November 22.
Synopsis: Lucky is not like the rest of us. She lives alone in a small house in the forest. She has her routines, her hobbies and her interests. She works remotely as a programmer. She manages by herself. But, sometimes she wonders why she’s been left out. Why she is the odd one out in a world of couples.
Against a backdrop of the dark forest, the story of Lucky is narrated by Lennart Jähkel, an actor that often gets to portray the northern sentiments in Swedish cinema. The short film Lucky is an emotionally charged tale with roots in the north-Swedish storytelling tradition in which the truth may never stand in the way of a good story and an unreliable narrator is rule rather than exception. With tragicomic undertones Lucky portrays the stigma of solitude in a film that lends elements both from the didactic visual language of children’s books and the symbolism of fairytales.
The screening will be in Swedish with English subtitles. Before each screening, Emilia will give a short introduction to the film. The eelpit will keep things cozy with blankets and tea to stay warm underground.
🗓 Saturday, November 22
🔦Screenings at 15:00, 16:00 & 17:00
Seats are limited:sign-up details coming next week!

The Soundtrack is by Jospeh Kamaru aka KMRU, a Nairobi ambient musician and field recording artist who is based in Berlin. It begins with the sound of the motorbike which gradually transposes into ambient tones before returning to to the road.
[Production Note - The boda boda rider never moves on the screen, they stay in exactly the same place and exactly the same size which is what creates the uncanniness in the image]

Today (Oct 12) from 16.00-18.00 @transitionsmaastricht , Kae Oktorina @kae.oktorina and i will be discussing the status of our experimental documentary 'Warne Mata' that narrates the journey of Indonesia's partially repatriated Lombok Treasure through the eyes of its gemstones. We'll be discussing our working process together ranging from our challenging research period of Dutch colonial oppression to the interventional (and transformative) power of the moving image when working with traumatic history and diasporic presents.
Produced by @wysiwygcinema and @indeks_id as part of a a wider transnational project named 'Beyond Provenance' the talk will be presented by Ruben Verkuylen and moderated by Abril Cisneros. The floor is open to audience discussion so i look forward to publicly engaging with these challenging topics alongside Kae and we're excited to share our experiences from shooting together in Indonesia this summer!

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
