The 3-year journey of this film has taken us across the country, 30,000 feet up in the sky, and all the way to the NAACP Image Awards. I couldn’t be more proud to finally just let it out into the world.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported this film, seen it, programmed it, and even rejected it (y’all humbled me rq). This being my first real short film as a writer/director, I’m so grateful to see what we’ve been able to accomplish with it (ON THE 1ST ONE)!
Next up: THE FEATURE 🥲

Filmmaker Ryan DeForeest is actively changing the narrative, reimagining Black boyhood and normalizing queerness on screen with his viral short film, “My Brother & Me.”
By stepping away from trauma-heavy coming-out tropes, DeForeest beautifully highlights the power of unquestioning brotherhood and allyship.
But the story goes even deeper. He also uses the film to explore the “father wound,” unpacking the complex reality of how a father’s absence impacts young Black men who are forced to confront their own trauma while trying to protect and guide the next generation.
“I want to see a world where we can depict how a lot of people and situations are, rather than living and sitting in those stereotypes that just reinforce the negative in our communities,” DeForeest shared.

Have you watched Ryan DeForeest’s “My Brother & Me” yet?
This powerful 17-minute short film is completely changing the narrative around Black masculinity and sibling dynamics.
When younger brother Terrence playfully flirts with another boy, his older brother Malik doesn’t judge, dismiss, or shut it down.
Instead, he simply checks in and offers the exact same protective, “suave” advice he would give if Terrence liked girls. It is a refreshing and beautiful departure from the on-screen tropes we are so used to seeing.
But the story goes even deeper. The film follows the brothers as they attempt to secure overdue child support from their distant father, tackling the rarely discussed reality that Black men navigate complex family traumas and daddy issues, too.
Even while dealing with his own anger toward their father, Malik never wavers in showing up for his little brother.

2025…bye, boo ✌🏽
Lots of surprises! Lots of rejections. But A LOT of hootin’ and hollerin’ throughout it all, with my favorite people in the entire world (only some of which are pictured here)
Apparently years that end in “6” are a big deal, so let’s hope 2026 changes us all for the better! ✨

This past year has been nothing short of a dream that challenged me as a person and as an artist. I’m grateful for the lessons and excited for the new ones coming my way this next lap around the sun 🥂
Also, happy middle of the year! 182 days just passed and 182 days left. This is the only holiday I’m recognizing this week!

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles.
