Recent work for @ellis_works_ featured in @elledecor

This first collection is a exploration of materiality mixed with a bit of wanderlust. I love any opportunity to transform the perception of metal into something softer.

As mentioned these pieces are inspired by Caravaggio’s paintings, specifically how he rendered fabric. I was able to observe them up close last year during a work trip to Rome. Upon my return I used large sheets of wax like fabric to pull, pleat, and zhuzh the material into pulls and knobs. The end results are sturdy brass objects that present a softer appearance as if one has just crumpled a pull made of poplin or palmed it into a knob.
