»Enter the Blackbox« ist eine kritische Performance- und Laboranordnung zu gesellschaftlicher Wirklichkeit und struktureller Intransparenz.

Ausgehend von Debatten zum Zusammenhang von Opazität, Macht und autoritären Tendenzen versteht das Projekt KI als konflikthaften, ökonomisch getriebenen und für Manipulation und Machtmissbrauch anfälligen Apparat. Wo Transparenz fehlt, wird demokratische Kontrolle erschwert; Diskriminierung, Umweltschäden und Machtkonzentration bleiben unsichtbar. Zugleich prägt das „known-unknown“ als kollektives Unsicherheitsmoment die digitale Gegenwart.

Nach Gastspielen in Bern, Luzern (Schweiz) und Lublin (Polen) ist CHATBOT CHALLENGE endlich auch wieder zurück in Berlin!
Zwei Performerinnen und ein Creative Coder gehen mit KI-Systemen der Frage nach: wie viel Theater steckt eigentlich in KI und wie viel KI-Theater haben die Menschen bereits verinnerlicht? CHATBOT CHALLENGE verhandelt exemplarisch die gesamtgesellschaftlichen Fragen und Herausforderungen der gegenwärtigen KI-Zeitenwende und untersucht dabei auch die Produktionsverhältnisse hinter der KI-Illusion.

They explore the question: How much theater is in AI, and how much AI-theater have we already internalized? Starting from the core situation of theater – a live performance in front of an audience – the piece becomes an intimate encounter with global AI systems, their potential, and their strategies of deception.

What happens when AI systems gain access to video, sound, stage, lighting, the bodies of the performers, and the reactions of the audience? Are chatbots the better performers? And how much work goes into their roles?

In “AI Democracy,” we travel back to the roots of democracy in ancient Greece and catapult it directly into the present. We ask: What updates does our democracy need in the age of populism and tech oligarchy? Together, we hack system prompts, send AIs into discourse loops, and experience live how algorithms challenge our political certainties.
