Partnering with long-time friend and collaborator Petter Eldh @pettereldh and US drummer Mekala Session @mickey.maestro , Àbáse @abase_music is excited to present ‘Bloom - May Flip Remix’. An innovative, live remix of the centre-piece from the acclaimed 2024 sophomore album ‘Awakening’. The single kicks off the rollout of the deluxe remix version of the album, which will land in summer 2025.
The remix came about after Àbáse joined Petter and Mekala Session at Berlin’s Brewery Studios for a session, returning to where the ‘Awakening’ album was recorded and mixed. Whilst working on music for Petter & Mekala’s upcoming duo project - cutting up samples live and improvising around them - they turned their attention to ‘Bloom’, with Àbáse providing a test press of the vinyl for them to chop up in real time. The result is a fully improvised collage resulting in a mind bending journey across styles and eras. Created in a live take, it comprises of reactions to samples from the original ‘Bloom’ recording, with Petter in control of the samples, bass & synth layers, Mekala Session on drums and Àbáse himself on Fender Rhodes.
As a bonus track, we also included a live studio version of the original track, also recorded at Brewery Studios featuring @ori_jacobson (sax), @giacomo.tagliavia (double bass), @ericowusuofficial (percussion) and Szabolcs Bognar (piano).
