Hey! Here are some of the albums I’ve worked on as a recording engineer, mixer or producer. I try to update this every couple years. I’ve worked on over 50 full albums from over 100 albums throughout my career and I’ve won multiple Grammys. I’m truly blessed to be working with so many cool artists and musicians.

Introducing TENET. @tenet.sound

A destination recording studio rising on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.

ten·et (noun): a central principle held to be true and uncompromising.

It resides inside The ARK @theark.world, a regenerative village in Santa Teresa where land, community, and creation move as one. TENET is built on analog foundations and recording principles. A unique creative environment.

The studio is helmed by world renowned producer and engineer Russell Elevado alongside Jeff Claeys.

Elevado brings the sonic expertise of over 40 years of record making into designing an analog recording paradise. A five-time Grammy winner, he has helped shape the sound of modern soul and jazz, from D’Angelo to Jon Batiste, Alicia Keys to Kamasi Washington.

Jeff Claeys is a multi-instrumentalist with over 30 years in the music business as a recording engineer and touring musician. Having engineered for MTV, Netflix, and over 500 released tracks, he established Costa Rica’s first and only residential recording studio. Claeys currently co-directs The Vessyl and runs day-to-day engineering at TENET.

Partnered with the award winning architectural team @colab_tulum we are breaking ground on the design and construction of our permanent facility inside The ARK. Along the way, we are opening our doors for exclusive listening sessions and live music events at The ARK and with our partners abroad. Recording sessions will be possible in the coming months at our temporary studio while the main facility is built.

This is the beginning.

In 2025, Analogue Foundation invited Grammy award winning saxophonist and composer Kamasi Washington and his band to the studio, to record three pieces direct to disc. Russell Elevado came out to record and mix the performance live. The session was recorded straight to the newly restored Neumann lathe, with no ability to perform edits afterwards. All of the mixing, like effects, balances and volume rides happen on the fly, using only analogue equipment such as tape delays and plate reverb. The result is an epic and mesmerising recording that showcases the power of this stellar ensemble of musicians and Kamasi Washington’s transcendent compositions.

We’ll be releasing the album soon.

Legendary drummer known for his work with Bill Withers and being a “pocket” drummer. It would be hard to find a drummer who isn’t directly or indirectly influenced by Gadson. Known as one of the most recorded drummers in the world working with a who’s who of artists including Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Jackson 5, George Harrison, The beach Boys, Herbie Hancock, Donald Fagen Smokey Robinson and the list goes on…

I am privileged and honored to have recorded as well as spent some time with Mr Gadson with D’Angelo. He had a very warm and gentle way about him and played like he was playing back in the seventies. He was always ready to come and play at a moments notice. We have him on a few songs but only Sugah Daddy and Ain’t that Easy has been released.
I also worked with him on @officialnikka album Pebble to a Pearl.

I’m heartbroken over the passing of engineering legend Bob Power. He was behind the controls and responsible for the ground breaking sound of many classic hip hop and R&B albums. He was one of my inspirations for anaggressive yet musical soundfrom his work with artists like A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots and De La Soul.

I’m honored to have shared mixing duties on D’Angelo’s Brown Sugar, Badu’s Mama’s Gun and Common’s Like Water for Chocolate with him. And he was the mastermind for the mix of Erykah Badu’s first single, On and On, The Roots’ album Do You Want More and Tribe’s album The Low End Theory. I am fortunate to have met him a few times over the years and compared notes and shared stories. We both come from the school of analog tape recording and mixing.
